Timmy’s Tantrum
Cowboy Confessional ^ | 4/25/2008 | Guy Smith

Normally I am saddened to witness a fellow human sink into the abyss of madness.

But for Tim Robbins I’ll crack open a fresh bottle of Jack Daniels and and bid his brain a joyous bon voyage.

...

Leveraging his marginal fame, which in turn is based on his marginal acting abilities, Tim thrust himself into the political arena with the confidence that only complete idiots posses.

...

“Just when we were close to a national news media providing a general consensus on what the truth is …“

First is the rather psychotic notion that the media has ever come close to reporting what the truth is ...

...

All ideas are set forth for public exposure, critique, ridicule, analysis, and adoption through thoughtful process.

And Tim Robbins is against this.

That Tim Robbins has mentally ridden off the rails should be no real surprise. Susan Sarandon seems to have that affect on folks.

If I never see these two again, it will be a good thing, a very good thing indeed.

I know how it is Timmy. A person reaches middle age and they know that the high point of their life is in the past. So they try to show they have something to give, but they don’t know what it is, full time employment eludes them, and no one seems to take them seriously anymore. The flesh sags a bit and even expensive clothes can’t hide it.
Well Timmy, That’s life. So get some knee socks to go with the sandals and shorts, grow some tomatoes in the backyard and quit irritating the rest of us.

Robbins is a dimwit, ‘tis certainly true.

But I THINK he was being sarcastic here.

This was a humorous and sarcastic speech. Robbins' comment quoted here is certainly not meant in support of censoring the Internet or constraining news reporting. You need to read the whole paragraph to understand it in context, and when you do so, you see that he is actually mocking the hidebound national media. The transcript can be found on HuffPost, for those inclined to look for it.

Didn't Timmy have a bit part playing a more crazed version of himself in the "War of the Worlds" re-make?

If I remember correctly, he had a fitting end in the flick... sounds like life will imitate his "art."
