Obama On Fox
Flopping Aces ^ | 04-27-08 | Curt

Posted on 04/27/2008 10:26:08 AM PDT by Starman417

Obama appeared on Fox and the far left is upset he didn't take them on but rather was quite accommodating.

The interview itself brought forth a few nuggets especially this head scratcher:

WALLACE: But, Senator, if I may, I think one of the concerns that some people have is that you talk a good game about, let’s be post-partisan, let’s all come together — just a couple of quick things, and I don’t really want you to defend each one, I just want to speak to the larger issue.

The gang of 14, which was a group — a bipartisan coalition to try to resolve the nomination — the issue of judicial nominations. Fourteen senators came together, you weren’t part of it. On some issues where Democrats have moved to the center, partial-birth abortion, Defense of Marriage Act, you stay on the left and you are against both.

And so people say, do you really want a partnership with Republicans or do you really want unconditional surrender from them?

OBAMA: No, look, I think this is fair. I would point out, though, for example, that when I voted for a tort reform measure that was fiercely opposed by the trial lawyers, I got attacked pretty hard from the left.

During the Roberts –

WALLACE: John Roberts, Supreme Court.

OBAMA: John Roberts nomination, although I voted against him, I strongly defended some of my colleagues who had voted for him on the Daily Kos, and was fiercely attacked as somebody who is, you know, caving in to Republicans on these fights.

In fact, there are a lot of liberal commentators who think I’m too accommodating. So here is my philosophy. I want to do what works for the American people. And both at the state legislative level and at the federal legislative level, I have always been able to work together with Republicans to find compromise and to find common ground.

So he did NOT vote for the confirmation of Roberts but he did defend those who did vote FOR him.

This is bipartisanship in Obama's world.

As for the Tort Reform stuff Ted Frank at PointofLaw.com isn't convinced that Obama is willing to cross the aisle on this one:

Then you won’t be disappointed by any of the Presidential candidates.

McCain was about last on my list of preferred GOP candidates, and it is very possible that I will vote 3rd-Party come November. That said, McCain’s far superior to either Obama or Hillary, so if it’s close in Virginia (I don’t think it will be), of course I’d hold my nose and vote for McCain the anti-conservative.

Obama is a smart guy and well spoken. His problem is that his deep seated beliefs leak through and when the public sees them they don’t like them.

"Obama is smarter than Hillary."

He seems smarter when he is giving a prepared speech, but when he's speaking off the cuff, he gets intellectually lost, imho. Remember his answer to Charlie Gibson's Capital gains question last debate? He's really not all that bright.

Wow. He’s making the nutroots angry by trying to win over moderates and independents. He’s acting like he’s got the nomination locked up. (And in a way, he does. I mean, let’s face it, the supers aren’t going to vote for Hil over Barry. No way.)

Didn't he defend that guy who advocated the death penalty of abortionists? And that guy who bombed the Pentagon too? He's just cordial to anyone he disagrees with, and lumps them all into the same category be Senators voting pursuant to the Constitution or other folks who would murder those Senators.

I am not prepared to say that he is not bright, but, after his most recent debate with Hillary, it is clear that he is uninformed about the issues and was too lazy to get up to speed on them before what turned out to be a very important debate. Hillary is not “the smartest woman in the world” (as some have called her), but she is much more experienced at speaking off the cuff than Obama.

I agree...life has come easy for Obama, and he doesn’t come off as a polished, knowledgeable candidate. I am confident that McCain can make mincemeat of either candidate as long as he doesn’t totally blow it by ticking off the Right...however, to me, Obama is the weaker candidate, Hillary is simply unlikeable.

This empty suit would not be on the stage if he were not black.

I'm not so sure on that, I think at his heart we have a hard core leftist and the left sees and loves that ...

So not a true empty suit...

He uses vague vapidity all to well as camo for what seem to be his real agenda

He's got his race as PC armor to protect from probing as to what that real agenda is.

So we are left with looking at his associates to get true idea as to who Obama is and what the true Obama agenda is... and it does not look good

I wish he was a true empty suit, then there be less to worry about...

Based on his associates I think we are dealing with a well crafted, for public consummation, stealth candidate of the hard radical left....The Chomskyite's wet dream, a "Trojan horse" ...(The Trojan "Obama"?)

Actually, sadly .. I have to agree with you.

But .. I’ll go one further. I believe the real movers and shakers of the democrat party DO NOT WANT HILLARY (and Bubba) anywhere near the WH again .. and they will support anybody else they think can win.

Obama being black is just a plus for the dems. Their belief is that you cannot challenge him because he’s a minority - and to do so means you’re racist.

I believe the dems are just plain cowards about the issue and afraid to tell the empty-suit to sit down and shut up.

You are probably correct in your characterization of the real Obama. What happens if, God forbid, he is elected?

Once the hard left has the power of the executive they will never voluntarily reliquish it nor will they allow for the possibility of being voted out of office.

When the American Public inevitably turns against them,; their is no doubt in my mind that they will use all the power they have to suppress all opposition.

I think the Democrats show their true side. They are made up of the belly of the beast. They are just what they try to portray those who think different from them. They are racist, feminist just plain hate filled. They will say and do anything for power and for the most part they are elitist socialist.

I agree with you...McCain's triangulation strategy may not appeal to conservatives like me, but it seems a healthy share of Dems may cross the aisle to defeat either Barry Hussein or the Hildabeast.
