"Unfortunately, the recovery of the ozone hole has a dark side: The return of a thin, suspended blanket of stratospheric ozone will raise temperatures over the southern polar region, according to a new study by scientists at the University of Colorado at Boulder, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The scientists, who relied on a NASA computer model for their predictions, also report that the healing of the hole will weaken winds that currently shield the Antarctic interior from warmer air masses to the north.
Antarctica may not be the only continent affected: The researchers also found that the changes in air circulation caused by ozone recovery could mean wetter conditions during late spring and early summer in southern South America, and warmer and drier weather in Australia—which is already suffering from a long drought."

Oh noes, not unintended consequences!
Of course it does. They are opposite effects. Break out the CFC’s and open that ozone hole back up and you solve the global warming problem. Of course I personally am more concerned about global cooling, but if you want to fix global warming, opening up the ozone hole is a solution.
I actually did vote for the ozone hole before I voted against it.

They don’t even know if the ozone “hole” is normal or not.
Looks to me like no one is going to get out of this world alive.
Just to be sure that “Good News” is not misinterpreted as “Good News”, by we pedestrians......
This “recovery” is a sham just as the original “disaster” was.
Ozone is made when radiation travels through the atmosphere and strikes water, so when the ozone levels are “low”, more radiation travels through the atmosphere, AND MAKES MORE OZONE!!!!
It has always been a self healing process on a 3 to 5 week cycle.
Okay, so bring back the aerosol cans.
It wasn’t that long ago that we were told the end of the ozone layer was imminent and the sun would burn off our flesh if we stepped outside, how did that whole thing play out?
Well, you know they banned halogens that were used in spray cans, air conditioners and refrigerators, so I guess that when they did that and big hair went out of style, all those halogens stopped being released and the ozone hole filled itself in. Now, ozone is the number one pollutant.
It’s Algore’s fault! We didn’t want the ozone hole to “recover.” The Goracle made us do it!!!!
I’ve still got a 12 ounce can of R12 in my garage.
I just may go out and punch a hole in it to help out.
Nothing makes those nuts happy... They spend many years crying about the damge done by man-made holes in the ozone. Now that the holes have “healed”, that is somehow bad....
Do we actually know that Antarctica is warming? I mean, now that we know that the film clip of the Antarctica glaciers calving in Al Gore’s film, was a simulated clip from a science fiction movie, what do we really know?

The ozone layer depletion was supposed to mean that the sun would hit the pole directly, causing ice pack melt. What happend to that pipe dream?
Oh, that’s right. The ozone problem was just cyclical, and they had to come up with a nightmare scenario to counter the folks who would have trashed them for the ozone hole return to what we think of as normal.

The sun hitting the ice doesn’t melt it as the
ice reflects it back out the ozone hole. The hole getting
bigger meant that more light/heat was reflected out the
hole.That is why most of Anarctica has been colder,
and why huge amounts of snow/ice has piled deeper.
With hole closing up more a more heated atmosphere
is trapped under the ozone layer. heating up things.
It is as big as Canada, so it holds a lot of ice.
Said ice pushes out the the glaciers we see breaking off,
and they are just a small fraction of the extra
ice and snow piled up in last 20 on Antarctica.
The loss of ice and snow in northern hemispere that
nutcakes said would raise sea levels, didn’t happen as
it just transferred and piled up on Antarctica. WE
accidently with CFHCs, opened hole making this possible.
We kept sea levels stable and didn’t even plan
on it. I would say it is best to keep it colder there
by letting out the heat, by opening ozone hole a little.
Time for CFHCs.It is the only thing we can do about
the climate..Ed

WOW! The ozone hole was discovered in 1985 and ever since it has been branded as a sign of many things negative. What a bunch of crap. Look at historical pictures of the ozone hole. Nothing has changed. Oh, yeah, even though freon was banned nothing has changed.

You may have digital dyslexia! During experiments of the International Geophysical Year French scientists reported atmospheric ozone levels as low as 110 DU observed at the French Antarctic Observatory at Dumont d'Urville [opposite side of the South Pole from Halley Bay] in the spring of 1958. The "ozone layer hole" seems to have waxed and waned since then.
We know that the only glaciers that calve are glaciers that are growing. They grow until they reach the edge of land, and then the leading edges fall into the sea. Receding glaciers melt, they don't calve.
Antarctica is growing. The ice isn’t melting back - last summer it only melted 40% of the prior winters growth. Ice ages begin in summer - when the melt doesn’t keep growth in check. Technically - we’re knocking on the door of the next ice age right now.
Thanks, so then the simulated pictures that Al Gore presented as proof of the warming in Antarctica are demonstrating just the opposite. While it’s not proof of anything, it at least demonstrates further that Al Gore doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

So like...how long has this been happening man? I mean, it didn’t repair itself last night, right? So all this cheap talk about the pole warming up ain’t our fault, right? I mean like the hole fixed itself, so it’s like normal.
Try it over grass or a stirred up ant bed. The R12 will fall. It’s heavier than air.
I’m still not sure why heavier-than-air R12 scoots up to the ozone layer so the chlorine can destroy O3, but the chlorine I dump in my pool just innocently and harmlessly floats there.
Of course you should make sure you pop you can of R12 in the middle of the night, in private. The fine for venting is $25,000 and the EPA will spiff people for turning you in.
For myself, I’m keeping my last can of R12 to sell on Ebay some day when it becomes a collector’s item after all of this is exposed as the largest scam in world history.
