Um...OK. Considering we’re already probably providing them 3/4 of their readership, this may not be smart of them, but it’s their call and your home. Excerpt it is!

Ok thanks for the heads up.

Now, can we impose the same kind of rule on Newsmax? Tit, for tat.

Fine by me, Joe Farah hasn’t written more than 5 words in a row that make sense for some time.

How do we decide what portion of their crappy "journalism" to keep as the excerpts?

Perhaps nothing but "a", "and" and "the"?

I thought Farah was World Nut Daily. I don’t know who runs Newsmax now...I used to read them all the time back when Christopher Ruddy’s stuff showed up regularly, but they kind of jumped the shark for me when John Leboutiller (sp?) went whacko.

Ah, well, can’t get too excited about it. They make it too hard to bring their stuff to the forum, then people won’t. But it’s their content, after all. BTT.

I used to go to Newsmax, but then they wanted me to sign up and give my email address. I obliged, but when they started flooding my email with headline nonsense, I to block them and quit going to their site.

Speaking of posting rules...just wondering. I know that the NY Post must be excerpted. What is the rule for cartoons (Delonas & Ramirez) appearing in the Post? I have had them pulled in the past, yet I see them posted by other FReepers. Thanks, Jim.

Why do you people continue to bad-mouth the only conservative outlets that are available to us?

Do you remember what it was like before these sites were available?

What the hell is wrong with you people?

If you find something wrong with an article, say so. But trashing the only means we have for getting a conservative spin is nuts and self defeating.

You boobs! Knock it off!

Oh, I don't know ... maybe because they're ghastly bad?

If "conservative" means "stupid" then I guess you're right. I generally don't equate the two terms. However, I'm willing to make exceptions on a case-by-case basis.

*** Just received a notice from NewsMax.com. They want us to post brief excerpts and links only from their site from now on. ***

Fine by me. Could result in some interesting Thread headlines....

Actually it'll be an improvement :-)

'SERIES', this is why I don't post articles. I'm lucky I can remember where I put my pants from last night let alone what to excerpt.

Okay Jim. I rarely read NewsMax anyway...they look like they troll Free Republic and then do a re-write.

Not that I blame them: the smartest conservatives on the ‘net are here on FR, anyway.

I subscribed to their hard copy magazine and never got a single issue. They did send me the free hat though, indicating they had the right address. After calling about 3 or 4 times (they were polite on the phone) I just gave up and wrote them off. By then I’d kind of noticed they were pretty useless anyway.

You read one column that you disagree with - state your opinion on that thread.

Ruining another’s reputation is a sin and in this case it damages the conservative cause.

Why don’t you do something to help.

We don’t provide them any traffic/readership if we publish the entire articles here on FR. Only if we force somebody to finish the article on their site can they really benefit from having published it (so we can post it here).

It’s only fair and NewsMax is not one of the nazis so we SHOULD be treating them respectfully just like anybody else we respect and want to see survive. (i’m leaving TIME, NewsWeak, NYT, LAT, WaPo and others off that list...)

Well, I would, but it's hard to bring myself to help Joesph Farrah, who sleeps with underaged teenage space aliens, who eats puppies and kittens for lunch, craps his own pants, drinks chocolate-flavored Drano, snorts Sominex, bludgeons little old ladies and pushed blind people down subway steers.

I used to exchange email and speak on the phone with one of the masthead folks there. I still respect him, but I don't think he calls the shots there. Ruddy does. And despite whatever good Ruddy might have done in really being the first reporter to expose the Foster fraud, he has lost all his credibility with his shameless self promotion and questionable reporting. It's too bad, but citing Newsmax is akin to citing the National Enquirer, or maybe worse.

As far as I am concerned, anything that keeps Newsmax reporting on FR to minimum is a good thing.

I'm with ya on that and even when the full text is posted it pays to give the good guys a click. Helps support the content provider and we do want to keep them afloat.

The only downside to that is that things can disappear down the memory hole that way and there is a duty if not a right to document when a site revises and extends their remarks.
