Despite all the jokes, Hofmann was regarded as one of the most brilliant chemists of the 20’th century. He had very little to do with the social trajectory LSD took once it’s psychoactive properties were fully appreciated. The cult status he enjoyed was largely foisted on him.

It’s sort of funny to read who were some of the users in the 50s, Cary Grant,Clare Boothe and Henry Luce,I think Aldous Huxley wrote a book about his experiences.
