The anti-immigration views of CNN host Lou Dobbs have made him a darling in the ratings but a nemesis among US Latinos, whose frustration has risen to the Washington corridors of power.
After their requests for a meeting with the chief executive of CNN's parent company were rebuffed, Latino members of Congress condemned the TV network for failing to recognise the "potentially dangerous" consequences of Dobbs's "divisive commentary".
Dobbs has become a sensation thanks to his populist outbursts against undocumented immigrants, whom he calls "aliens" and accuses of "invading" America to steal jobs.
The TV host also has targeted the Democratic presidential candidates, naming one segment "Hillary's hypocrisy" and describing Barack Obama's endorsement by Latino governor and former Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson as "pandering to ethnocentric special interests".
Joe Baca, the chairman of the congressional Hispanic caucus, told the Guardian that CNN's parent company should be held accountable for the content of programmes the network airs.
"Words matter and words have power. One-sided rhetoric can lead other programs to cite opinions as fact and adopt polarising word choices as the standard," Baca, whose caucus is influential within the Democratic party, said.

Poor babies. Lou will get more viewers now.
This is one area where I agree with Dobbs.
Time to reclaim the country, IMO...
Anyone who would silence someone who has opinions they find offensive and disagreeable, should be considered a traitor for trying to undermine the First Amendment. Anyone who does so is not fit to serve this country in any capacity.
No law, but they can still lean on CNN like some Mafia Dons.
"Nice network you have here. It would be a shame if something "happened" to it."
Translation: Journalists and television commentators should be obsequious--uh, sensitive--and choose such inoffensive terms as "undocumented workers" rather than the unadorned illegal aliens.
Got it.
Why not, makes perfect sense to me (another Hispanic). I mean just look what the illegals do every day in our country ILLEGALLY!... Look at the support they get...
Please don't think these people are stupid. They understand that if the U.S. REALLY wanted to stop illegal Immigration they would do it an instant. So if they don't see that determination in our government - especially when our PRESIDENTE is sending the opposite message, they interpret it as being given the "wink."
They know that politically this has become a "hot potato," but they also understand that there are PLENTY of people who wants them.
That is why I never blame them... but I blame our government first.

"The ANTI-IMMIGRATION" views of CNN...................."
propaganda technique, pure and simple.
What the hell do the leftists who run the Guardian care about Mexicans sneaking illegally over our borders? Maybe they should do something to help their own country, if indeed they were capable of it.
So how do you say STFU in Mehican?
Some folks think the only opinions which are “allowed” are the ones they agree with.
Might work that way in Mehico ...if thats what you want, go there.
“Latino members of Congress”
Money tainted tools of the wage depression lobby, working hard for amnesties that will disproportionately harm the economics of Latino American citizens.
The Guardian? No bias in this "objective" reporting! What a propaganda rag...Is this "paper" an arm of the globalist movement?
What about the First Amendment? This so called representative of the people needs to understand that HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO IMPINGE ON SOMEONE FREE SPEECH. He is just a Stalinist.
CTChB
The only way these new age ‘latino’ leaders will ever be happy is if we just give them everything....our right to free speech, security, education, health care, our sovereignty.....they’re doing the best they can to destroy it all. They seem to think they’re the only ones entitled to any thing. I think it’s racism in it’s worst form. They don’t think the rest of us are pure enough to have the rights they should have.
I don’t care if you like Lou Dobbs or not, raise a stink about this nonsense!
“Anyone who would silence someone who has opinions they find offensive and disagreeable, should be considered a traitor for trying to undermine the First Amendment. Anyone who does so is not fit to serve this country in any capacity.”
Exactly, thank you for saying it better than I did while I was spitting nails!

“Latino members of Congress” and their radicalism, just friggin lovely!....Goodbye America!
Wake Up America!!!
Hmmm? Lou’s said plenty about China and not a word from Asian Congressmen.
He makes a point to call the Chinese "Chi-Coms", least we forget they are communist.
Dobbs rocks!
sw
Baca wants the Fed Government to *run* the networks the way the Mexico’s PRI did...
John McCain brought us the vile Amnesty Bill in the first place (with the President's & the Dems approval, of course)
Any one of the three candidates ignores the 'rule of law' at will.
So...are we ready for May Day?
“So...are we ready for May Day?”
Oh, these are the ONLY times I wish I lived near a city. I’d be there. I’d probably get arrested, or killed.
Fortunately, I cut off my cable TV, so I won’t have to look at it all day.
I've not watched CNN very much and one of the main reason is how they all compliment each other like the are monkeys going over one another picking off fleas!
Sometimes the measure of man is taken by who are his enemies. Dobbs is a grandstanding left leaning populist Democrat or independent. But God I pray that RINO relic presumptive Republican nominee had these enemies of Lou Dobbs. But in this case, the enemies of Dobbs are more likely to the friends of McCain of the Kennedy-McCain Amnesty bill.
Ya know, if these Congresscritters are representing the interests of foreign nations and nationals, and not their districts and US citizens, they need to be arrested for treason, espionage, and/or malfeasance, and otherwise removed from Congress, or, better yet, the USA.

__________
Does that include McCain? His top advisor is a Mexican, has worked for the Mexican government, still works for Mexican interests......is he registered as a foreign agent?
“The role of Mexican foreign agent, Juan Hernandez, since at least 2000 in McCains election inner circle. A Mexican national serving in Mexican President Foxs cabinet and whose official role includes opposing the border fence, helping Mexican citizens enter the United States illegally and staying here and advocating for 24 million Mexican citizens in the United States. SEE these videos from CNN, FOX News, MSNBC and others where Juan Hernandez expresses his Mexican ultra nationalist views. Juan Hernandez is McCains Mexican Outreach Director.”

‘Fraid so. It is really embarassing that McCain has a registered foreign agent on his campaign staff.
He’s one of the reasons I’m not sure I can vote McCain.
We sure live in exciting times.
Why stoop to their level? Try what King Juan Carlos of Spain said to Hyuugly Chávez not long ago: "Porqué no te callas?" -- roughly translated, "Why don't you (just) shut up?"
>>but a nemesis among US Latinos<<
If the author would venture beyond liberal circles she would discover that many Hispanics are opposed to illegal immigration.
