Absolutely. All men are upstanding citizens who refrain from brawling with each other and screwing women w/out kissing them. Meanwhile, all women are vicious, moneygrubbing shrews who feel no shame.

(Do I really need a sarcasm tag here?)

In this case, Daddy is crapping in the same place he eats. Those children shouldn’t be anywhere near him.

Do you actually like a system where the woman (or man) can opt out of the marriage in order to “find themselves?”

Thank you for seeing the point I was trying to make. I’ve been on the other side of this issue. I was a non-custodial dad for many many years. I was late on ONE child support payment the entire time. I’d just gotten out of the Air Force to start college and was waiting for my VA checks to start coming. However, the NEXT month I paid the amount I owed, PLUS interest. For those who were saying that my daughter made a bad choice in husbands and should just deal with it. Or those who were boo-hooing over those dads lossing their driver’s licenses over owing back child support ... they obviously haven’t had to deal with the situation. My ex-son-in-law also refused to insure any vehicle that he or my daughter owned because he thought it was unfair to have to pay for insurance (he’s Canadian and feels that all things should be given to him).

To say that since my daughter has a problem with him not paying child support, my granddaughters should go live with their father and SHE should pay him child support is ridiculous. Maybe I should have mentioned ... he doesn’t want them to live with him. It would infringe on his “lifestyle”. What is my daughter supposed to do? Drop them off on his doorstep with a check saying, “Here, it’s your right to raise these children, too ...”?

I know from experience, that the state of Maryland is VERY slow to persue dead-beat dads and for the most part doesn’t want to get involved. Women who are dependent on these men (and YES, I know it happens with non-custodial mothers as well, but the statistics are WAY on the side of men failing to pay) don’t get an over amount of help from the state and are left to fend for themselves with the dads continue their lives without having to worry about the children they fathered.

Better than being trapped with someone you hate and hates you. Better than lying in bed next to someone who has called you every ugly name in the book and you wonder if they’ll try to kill you while you sleep. Far far better than growing to hate yourself for making the biggest mistake of your life and hating them for being that mistake.

And realizing they feel the same way about you.

Far better than staying to martyr yourself for no cause.

Much better to walk away with minimal bloodshed. So yeah, far more civilized that hiring a PI to catch Daddy boinking the maid or Mommy in bed with the pool boy. Way better than making a horror worse by trying to tag blame on one, where, in like most things in life, the blame can be spread around quite nicely between all parties.

More entrapment - more abuse. Take away the drivers license so the guy can’t get to work. Take $500 more and assure continued delinquency on cs payments. It keeps the government enforcement mechanism in business.

Really, it should never have gotten to that point, but I thought I was doing the right thing (and being a ‘good’ person) by staying married. So we didn’t divorce.

Looking back, it was a very, very bad decision.

Really - As in a case like this?

Martello v. Martello - Dad gets 40% time with his kids. BUT .... $9,000/month gross income (before taxes) .... $5,600/month spousal support .... $2,800/month child support .... $862/month net income and FICA, State and Federal taxes not included yet. By the way - Estimated taxes are $2,600/month for his income level by the state.

Does this man have a problem with his priorities or did a judge just try to MURDER him?

If the state can pauperize a high income dad like this, then there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with the law.

I THINK YOU NEED TO WAKE UP.

It isn’t just Maryland. Or even just Texas, Florida, New York, or California. Every state in the Union has swallowed this koolaid.

Every year they pass more and more draconian, illegal, unconstitutional laws. Such as the UCAPA law which allows them to bring ‘potential abduction’ charges against you in civil court.

By the way, that SMALL fee is 5% of the Child Support total in Louisiana. Over the life of an order, it amounts to the cost of a new car.

The only remedy for an abusive child support order is to appeal. The order must be paid while the appeal - a two year ordeal takes place.

In the Guillot v. Munn case in Louisiana, they took 7+ years and went to the Supreme Court three times.

There are a number of different ways that child support can exceed 100% of your GROSS pre-tax income. Small wonder, therefore, that the state has created as many ‘deadbeats’ as they have.

If a married couple has a child with high medical expenses - what happens?

For a divorced couple, the person paying child support gets hit with the bill and sent to jail as a felon !!!

“(and YES, I know it happens with non-custodial mothers as well, but the statistics are WAY on the side of men failing to pay)”

Really?

Women comprise only 5% of the non-custodial population in Louisiana but make up 15% of the deadbeat population.

Sounds to me like a woman is far more likely to fall behind on paying than a man.

So the first part of the problem is the TOTAL, COMPLETE, ABSOLUTE, HORRENDOUS DISCRIMINATION AGAINST MEN PERPETRATED BY THE COURTS. Women are awarded primary custody in 95% of ALL cases.

This level of discrimination is not tolerated in any other field in this country.

Women have a Title IX program to ensure equality in college sports.

WHERE IS THE TITLE IX PROGRAM TO END THE DISCRIMINATION AGAINST MEN IN THE DIVORCE COURTS.

Essentially the only time a man can get custody is when the mother drops the child off on his doorstep or when she is so messed up as to be completely unfit. Even then, many still retain custody. The lady that killed her husband with the Mercedes even retained custody of her children from jail.

You are definitely along my lines of thinking. Roe was a new unilateral right for one sex (the mother) alone that just happens to go along with the right to 18 years of (so called child) support for being the custodial parent, which in practice means the mother, who has that new right above. The child support deters abortion which may be why so many republicans are for it and dont care about the details or problems it causes.

Right to privacy? How about paternity tests? No privacy there! Ordered to child support court with no drivers licence which same court took, no rights there, no worry about govmt power there, but cant have voters decide private abortion decisions though, too much govmt power.

I had two married male friends who's lives were ruined, they had 2 and 3 kids, The wife was very unhappy, mostly about money, and took the kids and fled to another state , and other to another country. So both got custody and alimony and child support. Neither of the four were perfect partners but the men really loved their kids, I was with them, all 4 had personal problems, but one side had nothing to loose by stealing the kids and everything to gain by legally kidnapping the kids. Now I have heard many older women complain that their daughters had kids with deadbeats, who they claim were wonderful prior to fatherhood and changed, they refuse to pay anything and some are hiding. I am not sure what to make out of these cases.

++++++++++++++++
No need to scream. If my license was suspended I’d obey the law and not drive. If I thought it was unfair I’d have my attorney appeal. But, If I did decide to unlawfully continue driving I’d be prepared to pay the price. One shouldn’t pick and choose which laws they will obey. If there was injustice, and we don’t know that there was since neither of us knows all the details and weren’t there at the various trials, there are remedies available that could be lawfully pursued. They simply chose to ignore the law and drive unlawfully. They need to wake up, not me.
