Adam Kissel of the educational watchdog group the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) wrote: "Documents written or promoted by residential life officials demonstrate that sustainability is a highly politicized comprehensive agenda including positions of such topics as affirmative action, gay marriage, abortions, corporations and worldwide distribution of wealth."

“Sustainability?” What a joke. How “sustainable” was their model, the USSR?

Well of course the USSR would have worked fine if the mean ol’ imperialist USA hadn’t “undermined” them....

This article needs to be more green. I dunno...the excerpt seems to have a small enough "carbon footprint."

I'll tell you the buzzword I can't stand: "challenge".
I work with someone who refuses to say the word "Problem" in any context. It's always a "challenge".
"I'm having a challenge with my computer."
No. You're not. Climbing K2 is a "challenge". You're having a "problem".
"And if you don't stop saying 'challenge', you're going to have ANOTHER 'problem'"

I'll tell you the buzzword I can't stand: "challenge".You have to be "progressive" to use that term.

The word should be “issue”, not “challenge”. Corporate feel-good word. We don’t have problems here, we have “issues”.

“Sustainability” is just the replacement code word for the now discredited code phrase “economic justice”.

Same song, different day.
Co-opt a term that most people interpret favorably and define it in a slightly different way so that it supports a destructive agenda.
Surely no-one objects to people being happy and ‘gay’ right?
And no-one but a neanderthal would object to ‘choice’?
Or ‘affirmative’ action?
Or ‘fair’ taxation?
Or ‘change’?
Or...

I work at a major university and in 2006 the codeword/phrase was "Providing Content. In 2007 it was "Learning Through Gaming" and this year it's all about following "The Process". You have no idea how many hundreds of hours of meetings I've sat through where people talk about this stuff all day, even though most of them have no idea what it means or how to do it.

My daughter is working as an RA at Washington State University. She has been complaining to us about the meetings that she has to sit through each week, where nothing gets done, because no one seems able to make a decision. She hates these meetings, especially when she has homework that she could be doing instead.

Social justice = marxism = take money from “privileged” Whites and give it to people who don’t want to work for it.

There are those who would happily recreate the USSR and all its deadly ideologies simply because the new people would now be in charge, and they would "do it right" this time.
I first heard (or read) a warning about "sustainability" ten years ago. It hasn't died out. Indeed, the concept has gotten more entrenched.

As the United Nations restructures itself to become a world government vis-a-vis global governance, it is being formed around the principles of sustainable development as defined by Agenda 21. Signed by the U.S. during the Earth Summit at Rio de Janeiro in 1992, Agenda 21 is a 40-chapter manifesto to reorganize the world using socialist and pantheistic principles to protect Earth .
