Fellow, Cat, those numbers don’t surprise me. Personally, I have known an ex-boyfriend (20’s, hanging), a father-in-law (50’s, gun), and a (male) high school classmate (teens, gun) to commit suicide. Through other people, I have known about an ex-husband of a friend (early 40’s, gunshot in the woods), another soon to be ex-husband of a friend of a friend (30’s, cause unknown), my ex-husband’s grandfather (60’s, gunshot), a good friend’s male friend (30’s, unknown) and a friend’s uncle (20’s, unknown).
As far as women, a friend’s cousin’s girlfriend (20’s)drunkenly shot herself during a fight (my friend had to help clean up) and my mother-in-law’s female neighbor (30’s or 40’s)did the exhaust in the garage trick. That made the news because she almost killed the people in the next townhouse over who were only saved by their carbon monoxide detector.
Well, that’s quite a list. I’ve only known one (murder/suicide), and with any luck (bad) will know another one (my own.)
