Or maybe she understands them all too well. Her possessions impounded and her bank accounts frozen by the feds, Palfrey soon threatened to sell 15,000 telephone records to pay for her legal defense. On her website she announced she’d serviced some 10,000 clients since 1993, and that her phone records consist of “46 pounds of detailed and itemized records.”

It's always amazed me that she never carried out this threat. Yes, a 55-year sentence for junk "crimes" could be a valid reason for suicide, but I would think an even more valid reason to publicize whatever records she had. By doing so, she could start a firestorm that might make her rich and famous - in some haven country.

The larger issue is: 55 years for running a business that should be legal? This is why very few Republicans are going to get elected to anything this year.

So the GOP should put "legalize prostitution" in their platform? Sure, if you want to get NONE elected anywhere.
