Ron Paul supporters had no intention of supporting anyone who's not named "Ron Paul". Talk to some his kool-aid drinkers here and you'll find out they think the other 434 members of Congress are all "statist new world order globalist war mongering marxists" and Ron Paul is ONLY person on the entire planet who "understands" the constitution. They probably think he wrote the thing himself and James Madison just took notes.
The GOP could have nominated Thomas Jefferson himself and the Paulites would have cited the Louisiana Purchase as proof that Jefferson is an "unconstitutional intrusion" who wants to destroy America.
Incidentally, Jefferson himself thought the purchase was unconstitutional, and drafted up a Constitutional amendment to cover it. Then he realized ratification would take too long and Napoleon might change his mind in the interim. Jeff was actually more flexible and realistic than Ron Paul.
Of course not. Why should we support the GOP nominee after our candidate was given the shaft by the party and conservative hypocrites?
The beauty of Paul is that he brought in new blood into the GOP. The old way isn't working for the GOP. They need to desperately libertarianize or risk becoming irrelevant. There are folks out there hungry for real, genuine change - not the BS change touted by Obama, but significant WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING NOW type change. Paul brought in a lot of new voters and cash. He still has more money than McCain has.
Sure Paul was a moonbat on the war, but would you rather have Paul as Commander in Chief or Hillary/Obama in a nation that's leaning towards ending the war than continuing it?
