The real story is that the engines are not lasting as long as Rolls Royce projected they would. Rolls Royce is losing their shirt on the "Power By The Hour" maintenance contract that they signed and now want to renegotiate. The Marine Corps is telling Rolls Royce since they want to renegotiate the deal maybe the Corps should find a new manufacturer for the engine.
