Few people realize that the reason Bobbies were not armed to begin with was because people of England were allowed to be freely armed up until about 1900 or so when they started passing the onerous and extremely stupid gun laws that disarmed them to the extent they had to beg the US for arms for their civilians during WWII. Read any Sherlock Holmes mystery and see that Doc Watson went armed(concealed no less) all the time.

A man was badly beaten after he was chased from Thornton Lodge through Longroyd Bridge to Springwood on Saturday night. The 19-year-old was beaten up by a gang of Asian youths wielding baseball bats and sticks in a garden off Water Street in Springwood.
Now it has emerged that an Asian gang attacked a group of youngsters in Greenhead Park at about 4.30pm the same day.
In this case a 14-year-old boy from Birchencliffe and a 14-year-old girl from Lindley were kicked and punched after being ambushed by the gang of about 20 Asian youths.
I say these thugs need to be exported out of the country, back to their country of origin.
I would hope the 19 year old had a fully-automatic weapon and the dead meat terrorist would not have the option of running.

Granted the Middle East is part of Asia...but for journalistic accuracy, couldn’t they have just said “Arab youth”?
This is a travesty of the English language - to lump all Asians into the group which harvests, and grow terrorists. Of course, the perpetratora were from the Middle East, and were of the Muslim faith.
If I were from another group of Asians such as Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Laotian, Viet Namese, etc. I’d sue for defamation of character. More precise language is needed here.

In British terminology and in the newspapers, Muslims are being described as “Asian” because technically the Arabian thug countries are in the overall large continent of Asia.
The move was so people would not unnecessarily blame Muslims for gang rapes, murders, explosions and the things Muslims often do.

There are relatively few real Arabs in England. It is far more likely that these were Pakistani youths. Same bloodthirsty Mohammedan religion; different ethnicity and language.

Unfortunately, Arab is used erroneously and ignorantly by too many people to describe anyone from the Indian sub-continent, N. Africa, the entire middle east, and beyond.
Arabs are solely those people from Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
Turks, Palestinians, Pakistanis, Afghanis, Jordanians, Egyptians, et al, are NOT Arabs.
No, the brits are just more accurate with language than we are. What they call asian are truly inhabitants of Asia, and those they call Arabs are only those who are genuinely Arab.

No, the Brits are more politically correct or, should I say truth impaired. They could call them Muslims. Or they could call them “immigrants from Pakistan”.
However, to call them Asians is to deliberately mislead readers into thinking that England has a “youth crime” problem and not a problem with advocates from the religion of peace trying to bring sharia law to England.
