Censorship And The Yugoslav Civil Wars
Swans Commentary ^ | 5 May 2008 | Michael Pravica

The Kosovo debacle continues to haunt Western governments, especially the U.S., and has already exacerbated a number of conflicts in Turkey, China, Spain, and the Caucasus regions. The illegal recognition of Kosovo's "independence" by mostly Western nations (less than 40 out of 192) has encouraged terrorists that they can successfully alter the borders of sovereign nations via force. Though the Kosovo case is called "special" by many Western foreign policy "experts," in reality, it is the tremendous misreporting and censorship of the Serbian side of the tragic Yugoslav civil wars which condoned and justified mistreatment of Serbians that is unique and has encouraged Western imperialism elsewhere via the "humanitarian" intervention "concept."

Recently, Hague prosecutor Carla Del Ponte wrote a book wherein she detailed a macabre international trafficking ring involving the harvesting of organs from live Serbian prisoners during 1999 organized at the highest levels of Kosovo Albanian leadership and her extreme difficulty in prosecuting these criminals due to Western lack of interest in prosecuting crimes committed against Serbian civilians. The government of Switzerland banned her book. This pattern of censorship of Serbian suffering has been consistent since the Western-catalyzed breakup of Yugoslavia in 1989. Rarely do Western media outlets allow a Serbian voice to be heard except maybe fifth-column "Serbian" voices from extremists who wanted NATO to bomb their own people (e.g., Srdja Popovich).

"Slobodan was right!"

There may be some controversy about whether or not Slobodan was "right", but he certainly wasn't completely "wrong", either.

For the non-Serbs here, it may be of some interest that the name "Slobodan", translates into English literally as "Freedom's Day"!

Too frequently, we hear anti-Serbian perspectives from Albanians, Croatians, Bosnian Muslims, Slovenians (many of whom have no connection with or expertise on Serbia), or other ignorant, racist, and biased columnists who know nothing of the Balkans or are virulent Serb- and Russian- haters (e.g., Georgie Ann Geyer, Morton Abramowitz, and Zbigniew Brzezinski).

Isns't it amazing. All these people who are against the war in Iraq were right behind President Wag-the-Dog Clinton when in violation of International Law, the NATO Charter, and without the approval of the U.S. Congress bombed little tiny Yugoslavia that did NOT have weapons of mass destruction, NEVER attacked us nor any other NATO country, and was NEVER a threat to us.

Furthermore, Clinton bombed an ally of World War II based on atrocities committed by Bosnian Muslims and blamed on the Serbs.

Compared to Saddam Hussein, Slobo was a piker.

I wonder what Barack HUSSEIN Osama (oops!),I mean Obama, would have done or will do regarding the mess in the Balkans? After all, he said he agreed with the Clintons' regarding Kosovo.

And then there is Hillary who was out there dodging snipers (that didn't exist)in Bosnia that made a good story, but it was a lie, as was the whole war against the Serbs. The decision to bomb the Serbs was when Hillary urged Billy Boy to bomb the Serbs from all the atrocities being shown on CNN, NBC, CBS, and BBC.....

Right about the Muslims and what they would bring, about the KLA, about the Mujahadeen, the Serb cultures need to survive, pick one or more. The left controls the prism through how the average person is “allowed” to view the world. Their Heroes or gods like Che Guevara can be baby killers, or misguided/misquoted but enlightened individuals like Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers, or Leon Trotsky. All of whom are “smarter” and “better” than us and represent “just”causes. Western Christian Culture however is NOT one of those things. And total war to preserve the survival or a people can only be recognized as just if white people, Jews and or Christians of any Color can be killed in the “peoples” liberation. The left chooses to identify with and defend the terrorists, jihadist, their supporters and their “culture”. The Serbs did not meet any of the criteria that the left would select as deserving of survival at any cost.

The notion that Albanians, Bosnian Muslims, Croatians, and Slovenes aren't in a place to discuss Serbia is more than silly in light of the fact that they lived in the same country for 70+ years.

As for the second part of that statement, now I guess you know how it felt to be a Croatian for 50 years after WW2, constantly being demonized in the press.

"I guess you know how it felt to be a Croatian for 50 years after WW2, constantly being demonized in the press.

Couldn't have been because Croats committed the first airline hijacking in US history back in 1976 and killed a New York City Policeman in the process?

Couldn't have been because Croat separatists took hostages at the UN Building in NYC in 1977 and held them for hours?

Couldn't have been because Croat separatists took 8 hostages at the the West German Embassy in Chicago in 1978 and held them for hours?

Couldn't have been because Croat separatists bombed the Statue of Liberty in 1980,and blew up the New York Supreme Court Building in 1981?

And those were just of a few of the "highlights" of what happened here in the US at hands of Croat separatists. Am I surprised that they got "bad press" for it? No, they committed criminal acts. Serbs never did any of that to America or Americans and got "demonized" anyway -- there's a big difference.

What the Serbs did in the 1990s grossly outweighs those few actions of a few extremists in the 1970s. I guess you’re missing the point.

Not to America -- no, I am not. You just had better organization, a GREAT PR company and are lucky that Americans have both, short memory and a lousy education in history. Even your PR company, bragged how they "fooled the Jews" into joining your side, given Tudjman's fascist bent.

I will give you this, Dio. Your guys pulled it off! The pulled the wool over the eyes of the American people and you boys successfully hijacked American foreign policy to get what you wanted, and you got Croatian independence. That's long over and no one really wants to revisit that independence issue.

What I don't get, is why you are continuing this bull long after Croatia's independence, now that it's about Kosovo. Is it sadism? Or is it that if anyone looks to hard at Kosovo, the the entire Balkan myth that was created, unravels? What is it that keeps you coming back "defending Croatia" long after Croatia was safe?

Considering that the Americans were one of the last to recognize Croatian independence, this notion of “hijacking” American foreign policy is silly. Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, and Bob Dole all supported Croatian independence, but the Bush-Eagleburger gang were opposed. Thankfully the Vatican and Germany led the charge and said “enough” in light of Vukovar and the invasion of southern Croatia from Montenegro by the JNA.
