Every time she opens her mouth on economic issues you can tell she hasn’t a club about economics.

That's a great photograph. I remember all the debate in the 1970's about building the first pipeline. The caribou would get stranded on one side, overgraze and they'd all die.

Instead, the pipeline actually raised the temperature in the immediate vicinity by a couple of degrees, provided the only shelter in the immediate area for the caribou calving and created a mini-ecosystem with the heat generated by the gathering caribou and their poop. A pipeline from ANWR would do the same.

The Sherman anti trust act of 1933.

this is a model used by most of the world's legal system, and it is legally binding on our allies who have signed reciprocal treaties upholding it.

There are tons of precedent and in fact, a special exception was made for industries that countries deemed necessary to their National Security.

Now, this is horsecrap, because the framers of that exception never entertained the possibility that the industry in question would be OWNED by a country, but it stands as an exception that can be revoked by the US anytime.

It would be an extremely effective legal club, and one sure to start some serious bitching at us. - :)Who cares?

Oh for cryin' out loud:

I am sorry if this was misinterpreted, but I thought it was pretty obvious that I was responding to the author of the Yahoo News article, (since I had quoted the article above my response), and NOT to any FReeper here. And, Ron, if you think that that was an ineffective way to make my argument, well I have some stronger words than "dummy" for Clinton supporters, but this is a family forum after all.

Like what power does she believe she would have to do that shy of an all out war?

Now now, when we recognize that somebody has a drinking problem, the first step is to get them to admit they have a drinking problem. That won't happen if we point out just how drunk she is. We just have to nod our heads and say "yes Hillary, we'll work on breaking up OPEC", meanwhile we have to get her family members to confront her about her drinking.

More from the same speech.......

"We’re going to go right at OPEC," she said. "They can no longer be a cartel, a monopoly that get together once every couple of months in some conference room in some plush place in the world, they decide how much oil they’re going to produce and what price they’re going to put it at," she told a crowd at a firehouse in Merrillville, IN.

"That’s not a market. That’s a monopoly," she said, saying she'd use anti-trust law and the World Trade Organization to take on OPEC.

Suddenly, she's become a free market warrior? I doubt it. This is the same person who want to implement price controls and central government oversight over healthcare. Nobody's fooled.

Thanks for posting this. I’d heard about this on the news and knew someone would post it on FR.

Not only does she think she is the smartest, but also the most powerful woman in the world.
