Thats fine. But the million dollar question is. Was the email servers message stores backed up, including archiving of all ingoing and outgoing messages?

Usually there are two copies. One stored on-site and one off-site at a facility like Iron Mountain.
That is if IT dept was doing its job and had the proper budget.

Did the congress pass a law that a business “must” maintain all emails for a period of time (i.e. like some number of years). But then again, I guess, government entities are exempt . . .
