"TOKYO (AFP) -- The number of children in Japan has fallen for the 27th straight year to hit a new low, the government said Monday in a sign of the country's rapidly ageing population.
Children aged 14 or younger numbered 17,250,000 as of April 1, down by 130,000 from a year earlier, the internal affairs ministry said in an annual survey released to coincide with the May 5 Children's Day national holiday.
The figure is the lowest since 1950 when comparable data started.
The ratio of children to the total population sank for 34 years in a row to 13.5 percent, also a record low, the ministry said."

Wow. That’s a steep drop! UN demographers base even their lowest figures for the world population in 2050 (flattening out at about 9 billion) on the presumption that birth rates will eventually bottom out, but so far there’s no sign of that in many nations.

You dispute the data? Would you trust the NYTs if it ran such an article?
It’s been in all the local papers here.
I don't trust the NYT on any article they run.
I have heard other sources talk about the low birth rate in Japan however.
More like what affluence, selfishness and materialism gets you.

And all those fake women - blow up dolls, laps, etc.
Let’s send them some pregnant Mexicans to fill in the gap.
If Japan needs more children I am happy to move there and sire a few dozen. I love Japanese girls.
