Barney Frank Will Move to Defund War Under Democrat President

House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) told Cybercast News Service on Tuesday he will move to end the Iraq War with an immediate termination of funding if a Democrat becomes president next year.

"I will move to cut funding immediately," said Frank. "I have already done that. I voted against the war and voted to cut the funding. I would hope a Democratic President would put in place a plan that would begin a total withdrawal."

It's simple. Lose the war=Bush's defeat=revenge for 2000 election.

History repeats? Lose the (Vietnam) war=Nixon's defeat=revenge for 1972 election.

Well, sort of, but in truth it's more about this: Liberals cannot stand the idea of America ever winning another war.

By late 1973 and early '74, we had pretty much neutralized North Vietnam's ambitions. Then, after Nixon's resignation an overwhelming Democrat majority in Congress virtually cut off funding for the South and emboldened the North to move again. By April of '75, it was over. If the Democrats win the White House this year, they will have also have an overwhelmingly Democrat Congress, and guess what will happen? Bank on it.

Barney is telegraphing that he does not trust Hillary or Obama to be able to fight the war competently and so he is taking that “off the table” so as to give them a watered down job description for President.

Except this time it will come home to roost in our own backyard. How long before we suffer more catastrophic attacks on U.S. soil? I say less than one year into a dem presidency. Thereafter the electorate will turn on the dems. Sad, but that is what it will take.

Things may go more poorly than you imagine. The electorate might well turn on the Dems if we are attacked again by terrorists, but don't expect the Democrats to run and hide (from the electorate, that is). Mark my words: they will respond by blaming George Bush for "making us more vulnerable to terrorism" by invading Iraq. In large numbers, they already believe this to be true, so it is not a giant leap to suggest that a President Obama would respond to an attack on our soil not by denouncing and engaging the terrorists, but by apologizing to the world and forswearing any response.
