It's simple. Lose the war=Bush's defeat=revenge for 2000 election.

That's the formula and that's what will drive Dems to the polls in droves.

It's still about 2000.

History repeats? Lose the (Vietnam) war=Nixon's defeat=revenge for 1972 election.

Well, sort of, but in truth it's more about this: Liberals cannot stand the idea of America ever winning another war.

By late 1973 and early '74, we had pretty much neutralized North Vietnam's ambitions. Then, after Nixon's resignation an overwhelming Democrat majority in Congress virtually cut off funding for the South and emboldened the North to move again. By April of '75, it was over. If the Democrats win the White House this year, they will have also have an overwhelmingly Democrat Congress, and guess what will happen? Bank on it.
