LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Democratic leaders have settled on a plan to give presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton 69 delegates and Barack Obama 59 as a way to get the delegates seated at the national convention.

Clinton won the Jan. 15 Michigan primary and was to get 73 delegates under state party rules. Obama was to get 55 delegates.

You of all people realize that Hillary is going to be the Democrat nominee.

Don’t you?

This is weird. As I read this, they are by fiat deciding to reduce Hillary’s lead to get their delegates seated? Is that right? That’s so far from democracy I need confirmation.

Ok, the thought of Mrs. Bill Clinton and the number 69 is beyond disgusting. Does she really have to sink this low to steal her nomination back from Obama?

I don’t know it for certain. Her real hope is revealing a deep, dark secret of Obama that gets the Supers to jump ship. She will release it at the time for optimum damage.

Not much less democratic than holding a primary without all the candidates on the ballot.

I don't see how Obama was to get 55 delegates under state party rules. His name was not on the ballot, and he received no votes.

There should have been 55 UNCOMMITTED delegates, which would have been picked by the party apparatus, not chosen to be Obama delegates.

I also like how later the Obama people said something like "we realise we have to be generous and give Clinton some delegates".

There is no way Obama would have won Michigan.

Anyway, we have to hope this plan is rejected, so we can have more turmoil.

The state party just made it up. They have no hope of getting it past Dean.

Clinton is starting to make FL and MI part of her daily talking points.

It’s going like clockwork.

Yeah, I don’t see how Clinton goes along with this. She was the only name on the ballot. Unless they can prove Obama got a certain percentage by write-ins, she ought to get all the delegates.

Obama was to get 55 delegates.

Only the mediots could come up with this statement. Obama was not on the ballot. He was to get zero delegates. There was a slate of uncommitted delegates who won some delegate positions.

Obama doesn't need the exclusion of Michigan or Florida in order to secure the nomination now. The superdelegates are coming to him.

In an earlier post, I was wondering if the RNC will lift the sanctions on those states too?

If she had it seems to me she would have already used it so she could win outright and have more time to unite the party before the main contest. I see no logical reason for her to have held back.

Typical. Leftists want to change (their own) rules in mid-stream. Like I’ve seen in print a number of times; if they can’t even nominate someone, how can they run this Country? If the “average American” paid any attention to this Stuper delegate nonsense, they wouldn’t be voting for a party that can undermine their popular vote. </reality> Oh, never mind.

She really thought last night's primary results were going to be the opposite of what they turned out to be: Big win in Indiana and a close loss in NC.

If there is something out there on Obama, she's dusting her fingerprints off the story before it hits the fan.

She's not giving up this nomination. As she said today: "an election can change in a day".

Just a little American Idol drama...the black Idol Syesha, who hysterically cried after her song last night explaining that it was about the civil rights movement and comparing it to her personal Idol journey of change (rolling eyes), just ticked off half of the country tonight by making political commentary. During the elimination segment, she again says her song was all about change in 2008 because we might have our first female or black president. Wonder how many fans have voters remorse tonight.

I’m quite familiar with Michigan and there are no leaders.

There are democrat liars, frauds, con-men, charlatans, cheats, dead ducks, socialists, welfare bums, turds, maggots, snakes, scoundrels, thieves, fops, lizards, crumbs, creeps, bottom-feeders, pole-cats, dickheads, buttheads, coelacanths, but no leaders.

Perhaps just before the convention so he doesn’t have time to answer it. After all, that isn’t too late. Supers can change their minds at any time, and even the pledged delegates are not bound on the first ballot. If Hillary went all the way back to kindergarten, she may well have something on him.

Shoes keep dropping.
This is going to probably be my only source of amusement this year, and I dearly hope it lasts, because once that ticket is settled, McCain is in for a world of hurt.

I fully expect that if Clinton remains in this race, and I see no reason for her to drop out now, that the final tally will be within 100 delegates pledged.

What will happen with the supers does not look good for her, and I do not believe for one second in any “October surprise.”

I also do not believe that all of this vast expenditure is for 2012.
That gives any mortal too much credit, and this is played for keeps in the real and now.

I'm waiting for her name to appear on the ticket as VP, and that is the only real reason that I can see for her to remain in this.
Actually, I would not be surprised to hear of her pulling a Kerry type of deal with McCain if she doesn't get her way onto the ticket in some position, nor would I be in the least surprised to hear McCain accept it.

THAT would be a delicious irony.

VP for her, even under Hussein, would still be a stunning achievement.
Albeit, she wouldn't get the top slot, but she would be the first female VP in history and would be well positioned to further her political career and keep her and Bill in the spotlight.

Don't laugh. I believe that a ticket with her on it will win with any party.
I sincerely hope that the damage done is too great for that to happen. - Or McCain is toast.

Nobody here in Florida does either, Doug, but one thing is for sure:

As far as the dems are concerned - and I have seen and heard this exact phrase - this is Hillary country, and Obama would have been crushed into the dirt here.

I can’t see him getting half of any count here, nor the State democrat party agreeing to that split

Hussein had better up his life insurance policy if that were to be the case. He would only be a heart beat away from her obsession.

How do they get away with stealing 4 delegates from Mrs. Clinton?

Four votes can be a lot. If 4 Guamanians had flipped to Hillary a few days ago during the voting, she would have beaten Obama there. New Hampshire's 4 electoral votes in 2000 were enough to spare the US a Gore Presidency.
