Just what does that mean?
Methodists are pretty liberal, possibly not a born again reverend but just an ordained Methodist minister, liberal of course. I don’t know him so I can’t really say, but MOST methodist ministers seem to be more liberal than conservative.
The Methodists are the farthest Left of the mainline religions except for the Jesuit Liberation Theology marxists.
They dominated the Hanoi Lobby during the war and their leaders have been involved in every major communist united front on issues ranging from the Pershing Missiles/Cruise missiles, to SDI to ANSWER, United for Peace & Justice, and the old CPUSA united fronts of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s

Any "church" that belongs to the National Council of Churches (NCC) is anti-American.
That there's a huge contingent of liberalism in the UM. There's also a very strong contingent fighting against that.
