I wasn’t aware Rush preferred Rudy early on.
No way did he prefer Rudy early on! If he had, he’d been shown the FR door in April ‘07.

I’m aploplexic with the current Rush, but I’ve listened for years and will defend the old-school Rush.
The only preferance Rush had, that I am aware of, was prior to the '06 elections, he said he liked Sen. George Allen. That one didn't work out too well.
I thought Rush should have come out early on in support of Duncan Hunter. He was the only Reagan conservative running.

He didn't. Rush never endorsed anyone, but clearly had a bias toward Fred Thompson. Sean Hannity was a big Rudy guy, but never Rush.
When the author gave the reasons for Operation Chaos (that Hillary would be easier to beat) then threw in the support for Rudy, I began to doubt that he ever listened to Rush. Rush has said every day for a month his reason for OC, and it is not about getting either candidate nominated.
I don't believe that he did. I think the writer deduces this because some, like Hannity, were so openly drooling over Rudy as the potential Republican nominee, and being a liberal, he thinks that all conservative talkers work in lock-step getting their marching orders from the RNC each morning.
