Because you need to have the alternative viewpoint represented for the media.

Conservatives do a poor job in that they readily (and rightly) dismiss the inane antics of the Left. The Left however takes every opportunity to get their message out.

When the Left chooses to make an @ss of themselves, it's importance to pounce on the opportunity.
