Oily Chavez Oozes Beyond Venezuela
IBD ^ | May 8, 2008

The Hemisphere: Oil spiked $4 Friday on new evidence of Venezuela's deep involvement in terrorism. There's no glossing over such news: Hugo Chavez intends to destabilize the region. The U.S. will need to take action.

After poring over some of the 10,000 documents captured from the computer of dead FARC terrorist Raul Reyes, killed in a raid on March 1, U.S. intelligence officials are convinced that Chavez's involvement is deeper than anyone realized, according to a front-page story by the Wall Street Journal. "There is complete agreement in the intelligence community that these documents are what they purport to be," a U.S. official told the Journal.

The oil market understood the implications of this: The U.S. probably would be forced to declare Venezuela a state sponsor of terror and then end Venezuela's role as a top oil supplier, as required for other rogue states such as Iran.

With global oil supplies scarce, and Venezuela accounting for 12% of U.S. oil imports, the U.S. economy would feel the effects.

Yet the alternative of doing nothing probably is worse.

The new documents show Venezuelan complicity in the FARC's war on Colombia well beyond any past estimates. Chavez offered the drug-dealing Marxist terrorists rocket-propelled grenades and ground-to-air missiles to shoot down U.S. and Colombian aircraft.

Looks like Pat Robertson was right when he said we should assissinate Chavez! I agreed then, and I agree now!

The press needs to ask Hillary, Hussien and McQueeg what their positions are on Venezuela.

I just want to say that I hate liberalism so much that I just want to spit on it.

We have Marxist Democrats in our House and Senate that are holding up the free trade agreement with Columbia for no reason other than to basically help Chavez. We have Hollywood actors, Code Pinkos, and Marxist Democrats supporting this thug dictator who I just want to tell off something fierce.

Liberalism, in any form we see it today, is inherently evil.

there are a lot of different chemicals that would mimic a heartattack & or a stroke. How about some very painfull cancer that would work too. My point being there are a lot of different ways to dispose of a pos like this and our hands would be clean, and there fore not subject to critzism.

And this news comes as a surprise to who?

All Democrats, the MSM, CIA, and the State Department.

I’m guessing this story gets ignored so it doesn’t become a candidate question. I sure hope it does become a question though.

Alright. Who’s got the pic of Hugo in the short shorts and the beach buckets stuck on his chest?

I'm sure he is aware. So are all of our congress critters. In fact, I thought I saw a FR post that connected one critter with a seized computer from the FARC.

I'd have to search around for it.

If we were smart, we'd use dioxin or thallium and make it look like a Russian relationship gone bad. Heck, the Russians would probably view it as a compliment.

No, I don’t agree with you on this. It is better to just get rid of him & flood the area with aid stamped “From your friends in AMERICA” That will help get rid of his memory, like a bad nightmare....

So long as America buys Venezuelan oil, Chavez will have the money to help FARC eventually destroy Colombia.

I agree that we should stop buying Venezuelan oil but that will have little impact on Chavez’s activities.

There are plenty of buyers for Venezuelan oil in the world.

1. Declare Venezuela a terrorist state, this will do wonders for his bank balances, which will be frozen pretty much worldwide.

2. Force closure of CITCO. Don’t nationalize, Don’t buy it, just CLOSE it. Make a law making it illegal to buy fuel from them.

3. Cease any and all oil imports from Venezuela. This would bankrupt him more quickly than us. We are about the only country in the world that can refine his dirty sour crude. He can’t even refine it all himself. Let him sit in his palace with oil up to his fricken’ neck. With half his population already starving because of lack of basic food products, it won’t take long for the people to either kill him or vote him out. Canada or even Iraq can make up the difference.

4. Continue to fill our Strategic Reserve, which now stands at 750 million plus barrels on it’s way to a billion. Do everything possible to prevent the Democrats from passing a bill to stop buying and releasing our reserves. We must hang on to them for an emergency, not just because gas is up. Think of it this way, it’s an investment, and George Bush is the BEST OIL TRADER in the world. Why? Because every barrel is profitable....think about it.

40% of Venezuelan oil is refined here in the US and we consume around 50%. It would take him quite a while to move the product to be refined especially. China and India would be obvious purchasers but right now they wouldnt’ have the way to transport that much oil there.
