Kerry Statement on Bush Remarks from the Knesset - (Bush slandered Obama)
kerry.senate.gov ^ | 5/15/08 | JohnKerry

Posted on 05/15/2008 10:06:00 AM PDT by GeorgiaDawg32

WAHSINGTON, DC – Senator John Kerry made the following statement today, in response to President Bush’s partisan attacks from Israel’s Knesset.

“President Bush is still playing the disgusting and dangerous political game Karl Rove perfected which is insulting to every American and disrespectful to our ally Israel.

“George Bush should be making Israel secure, not slandering Barack Obama from the Knesset. If George Bush believes engagement with Iran is appeasement, the first thing he should do when he comes home is demand the resignation of his own Cabinet. Secretary Gates and Secretary Rice have both favored negotiations with Iran.

“The bottom line is that George Bush's policies have made America less safe. The Middle East is more unstable than it's been in decades. Al Qaeda is reconstituted, Israel is more threatened, Hamas controls Gaza, Hezbollah threatens to take over Lebanon, Iran is stronger and Iraq is in chaos. America needs – and Israel deserves – presidential leadership that actually makes us safer and stronger.”

that’s a great expression. I saw this earlier. I can’t believe Obama reacted to the totally abstract comment Bush made. Its almost comical that he is so sensitive about it!

President Bush didn't slander anyone because he didn't name anyone. It is a fact that Obama wants to appease Hamas, Hezbos, Iran, Venezuela, etc and it's a fact that those terrorist or terrorist supporting nations support him.

(giggle!) That is Hell Funny! There are some Americanisms that, tho’ thoroughly unfamiliar to a foreigner, are so succinct and so graphic it leaves no room for misinterpretation — and at the same time is good for a chuckle or three.

This is one of them!

ROTFL!

The White House said Bush's comment wasn't a reference to Obama. "It is not," press secretary Dana Perino told reporters in Israel. "I would think that all of you who cover these issues and have for a long time have known that there are many who have suggested these types of negotiations with people that the president, President Bush, thinks that we should not talk to. I understand when you're running for office you sometimes think the world revolves around you. That is not always true. And it is not true in this case."

Of course, it's not getting much attention on the cable news stations I've been watching.

The Middle East is more unstable than it's been in decades.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Mosque_Seizure

The Grand Mosque Seizure on November 20, 1979 was an armed attack and takeover by armed Islamic fundamentalist dissidents of the Al-Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest place in Islam.

President Jimmy Carter didn't bring peace to Iran or Israel.

Um, because they are knee-jerk Dems, and all the would-be senators-in-waiting (currently elected pols) on the Dem side are not only almost as arrogant, but even dumber and more crooked.

MA is probably going to lose one House seat, possibly two, so look for the Dem internal pressure to push Kerry out.

After all, what has he really done, other than vote exactly the same way Kennedy does, and what does that take, other than checking your ethics and common sense at the door to the Capitol?

If George Bush believes engagement with Iran is appeasement, the first thing he should do when he comes home is demand the resignation of his own Cabinet. Secretary Gates and Secretary Rice have both favored negotiations with Iran.

So, Jean Francois thinks a presidential level meeting with no preconditions, within the first year in office -- what Barack committed to, incidentally not only for Iran but also for Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea! -- is the ONLY means of "engagement"?

What happened to his "nuance"? Musta lost it waterboarding.

BTW, in Obama's own statement he cited the examples of Kennedy, Nixon and Reagan in meeting with leaders of adversarial nations. Sorry, Barack, but Reagan didn't personally meet with the Soviets until his second term. Nixon didn't summit with the Soviets until his third year and the Chinese in his fourth.

OTOH Kennedy did meet with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev during his first year in office (Vienna Summit, June '61). However this is hardly a fortunate comparison! Historians generally agree that the Vienna Summit was a precipitating factor wrt the Cuban Missile Crisis, which brought the Soviets and America to the brink of nuclear war!

Thus The Messiah's ignorance of history bites him in the arse, yet again.
