Mike Huckabee on Fox & Friends this morning was making the point that the Democrats should have pretended that Bush’s remarks didn’t have anything to do with them. He said that if you throw a rock over the fence, it’s the dog that gets hit that lets out a howl.

Exactly right. It was like Goldwater’s reaction to the daisy ad of 1964. Analysts later said it would have been better for Goldwater not to consider the ad an attack on him but rather to have said something like I join Mr Johnson in working to avoid the possibility of nuclear war.

John Bolton said W hit the nail on the head, and now the nail is whining!

Obama should have said nothing unless asked, in which case he should have patiently pointed out that the senator Bush used as an example of a Hitler appeaser was in fact a Republican (William Borah, R-Idaho).
