>>I agree with the school. It is a simple way to try and preserve a smidgen of decorum and dignity. Perhaps he can change into his uniform immediately after the ceremony.

Excuse me, but as a member of the Armed Forces, he is required to wear the appropriate uniform at all times. Civilian clothes can only be worn, if a) on military leave at home or b) with CO’s express approval.

He has earned the right to wear EG&A and dress blues. School Board is outranked by CMC and DOD regulations.

Let the “dress code” be for those who would show up naked or in anti-war attire.

Seems to me the Marines are far more strict about uniform wear than you say (and those rules are FAR more idiotic).

This is much ado about nothing. I can appreciate the young Marine being proud of his accomplishment, but he needs to accept the decision, wear their required uniform for the ceremony and drive on.

I wore my dress uniform under my cap and gown when I graduated from college. Granted the Marine dress blues don't have a standard collard shirt and tie like my Army uniform, but he can work an easy solution for the ceremony.

He's getting to the point of drawing far too much unnecessary attention to himself.
