Judges hasten cultural decline
Waterbury Republican-American ^ | May 17, 2008 | Editorial

Posted on 05/17/2008 11:12:16 AM PDT by Graybeard58

People gaze in disbelief at the cultural landscape — all the divorce, cohabitation, promiscuity, sexually transmitted disease, single moms, ill-mannered children, failing public schools, substance abuse, domestic violence, abortions, pornography and incivility — and can't fathom how America fell this far this fast.

No one event triggered this devolution, but it undeniably was pushed along many times by the moral relativism of the last 50 years, when most of society's widely accepted norms were undermined by the quicksand of nonjudgmentalism; when the concepts of right and wrong, good and bad, were abolished in favor of differences that were to be respected if not celebrated, and codified when necessary to surmount widespread public opposition.

Paradoxically, people and institutions whose beliefs do not permit them to tolerate the most abhorrent differences were judged to be evil. Through rigid enforcement of increasingly fascist speech and thought codes, relativists turned America into a nation of lip-biters who with their silence condoned as normal behaviors and beliefs that are irrefutably unnatural and inherently immoral.

At every step of this long downward cultural march were men and women in black robes, activist judges eager to take out another of society's underpinnings under the guise of some spurious, high-sounding goal. And at every step, relativists declared that the latest judicial fiat freeing another genie of man's worst impulses would, inexplicably, make society stronger, fairer, safer, better.

Thursday's California Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage followed the script, but was at best redundant — its Massachusetts counterpart broke this ground four years ago with the identical one-vote margin — and was more symbolic than significant. Homosexuals already enjoy all of the rights and benefits of traditional marriage under California law, which treats homosexuality and heterosexuality as functional equivalents.

No, the ruling merely answered homosexuals' purely emotional plea for cultural acceptance by giving civil unions their proper label — "marriage" — the will of Californians, as democratically expressed twice, and the dark societal consequences be damned. Far from being a seminal ruling, the decision merely inched the homosexual agenda ahead and drove yet another nail in the culture's coffin.

While I agree that activist judges are part, let us not forget the ruling elite of this country. It is worse now that the republican party became the dummocrat party.

“No one event triggered this devolution”

Perhaps no one event, but I think we can lay the blame on one ideology: Leftism, or State-ism, where the government is the source of all morality.

I blame it on the hippie, anti-war movement of the 1960’s. Remember the book “I’m OK, You’re OK?” That was the ultimate bible of moral relativism.

Yes it did: Bill Clinton's election in 1992. We were gliding down a river before - the Clintons were Niagara Falls.

Double that for the otherwise-decent “independents,” “moderates,” and “Reagan Democrats” who’s votes provide political cover for the left-wing.

In my opinion, once divorce became acceptable, that opened the floodgates. Adlai Stevenson was divorced (his wife was insane), and that was a charge made against him. (Though even if Stevenson wasn’t divorced he still probably would have lost against Ike.) It is said that Ike didn’t divorce Mamie and marry Kay Sommersbye because in those days it would have ruined his career. Today, no one thinks divorcing one spouse to marry another is remarkable.

Accepting divorce is the camel’s nose under the tent flap. Now, people who complain that polygamy is the next step, accept leaders who have one wife, and then another wife, and then another wife, serially replacing a spouse with a younger and more attractive model. That is Not what is meant by marriage.

If the Republican Party wants to help restore morality to America, they need to start at home. Clean out the homosexuals and adulterers from their ranks. Try to find candidates who are not divorced, who are truly committed to family values. Reform starts at home.

America’s Mein Kampf

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1435948/posts

Most of the citizens of America do not comprehend what is happening to their country. The changes we see in America did not happen overnight. We hear people remark over and over “It wasn’t like this when I was a kid!”, “What is happening to my country?”.

Today you can see that the Socialists are repeating the same strategy on Iraq they used on the Vietnam war, “Make the people think we are loosing the war, it is costing too much, etc.”. If the people of America would open their eyes they would see there are Socialists ALL AROUND THEM! The Democrats don’t deny they are Socialists, they just don’t talk about it too much. The Democratic Party was taken over by the Socialists subversives many years ago. Zell Miller said it best: “There are strangers living in my basement…” Those strangers took over the Democrat Party!!

The old “Frog in a pan of water” comparison fits very well to what is taking place. Our principals, our morality and our Constitution are under assault and half of the citizens of our country do not see it. Some of these “45 goals” being achieved are:

Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press

Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history

Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

“What is happening to my country” started over forty years ago. The changes to be made were charted out and documented in the: Communist Goals (1963). The many groups of Socialist front groups have achieved most of the items listed in the “Communists Goals”.

They are working with other socialist countries and for the UN. The goal is to damage the United States of America with every opportunity either real or made up. We must make the people see who the Socialists are and what they want to do to America.

Does anyone remember the phrase/term “Parliamentary Pirates” from the “1950s? The communists used every obscure rule and by law to take over union meetings and then the unions themselves. This is still happening today. The majority controlled by a minority.

We have to quit calling them “Progressive, Liberal, Left Wing, Democrats, “Rinos” etc”. They are SOCIALISTS DAMN IT!!!!  Yes, “THEY” have been busy for YEARS! This is a perfect example of incrementalism, “Social or political gradualism”.

History tells us how this started. The Mc Carthy hearings were stopped before they were complete. The many “seeds” (read CELLS) were left to grow and multiply. Ronald Reagan and Walt Disney both testified at these hearings:

http://historymatters.gmu.edu/d/6458/

Mr. REAGAN: “Well, sir . . . 99 percent of us are pretty well aware of what is going on…  ….with their usual tactics, trying to run a majority of an organization with a well organized minority”.

Mr. DISNEY: “In my opinion they are Communists. No one has any way of proving those things.”

The young radicals of the 60’s were financed supported and directed by foreign communists/socialists. They have become college professors, teachers, lawyers, politicians, clergy, news and entertainment media and the business world elite. They are “educating” and recruiting our young for their replacements.

They have gotten environmental and regulatory control (NGO’s) over most businesses, resources of water, forests, oil, farming, ranching and mining in order to eliminate their profits and shut them down.

They are in the process of bankrupting the people and government with lawsuits, social programs, financing the UN and foreign countries, environmental programs and out-right GIVING money to socialist front (ACLU) groups which attack us.

They are eliminating our jobs as much as they can with the above methods and with foreign treaties and international laws.

If the people of America would open their eyes they would see there are Socialists ALL AROUND THEM! The Democrats don’t deny they are Socialists, they just don’t talk about it too much.

Dean: Socialist victory equals win for Dems         “The media, Gov. Dean, and the Democratic Party at large may not find it objectionable that Dean endorsed the current-day equivalent of the Kremlin to run for the U.S. Senate.”

Democratic Socialists of America's Progressive Caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives

Taken verbatim from the Internet web site of the Democratic Socialists of America

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International. DSA's members are building progressive movements for social change while establishing an openly socialist presence in American communities and politics.

What is Democratic Socialism?

Question: Aren’t you a party that’s in competition with the Democratic Party for votes and support?

No, we are not a separate party. Like our friends and allies in the feminist, labor, civil rights, religious, and community organizing movements, many of us have been active in the Democratic Party. We work with those movements to strengthen the party’s leftwing, represented by the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

You ain’t seen nothing yet. In just a few years Christians will be prosecuted for denouncing sin. Doing that will be a “hate” crime.

Churches will be picketed on Sundays. Take a look at what Code Pink is doing to the Marine recruiting center in Berkerly. That’s the future for Christians.

Take the template government has used to stop smoking, apply it to churches. That’s the future.

In my opinion, once divorce became acceptable, that opened the floodgates.

I'm old enough to remember when being unwed and pregnant was shameful and unwed mothers were looked down upon. The men or boys who impregnated them deserved condemnation too but didn't get it.

In my high school, if a girl even got married she had to quit school. Now some public schools have day care for the children of students.

My daughter teaches at a public high school and a couple of years ago in one of her classes she had 3 pregnant 16 year old girls, one with her second child.

Where's the shame?

In the noble effort to remove the unfair stigma of illegitimacy from the innocent children who did not ask to be born of unwed parents, society went overboard and excused the parents as well. Bad move. Without the stigma, and with the government assistance that made it more lucrative to be an unwed mother than a married one for many young women at lower income levels, came the explosion. Soon, as benefits “for the children” expand like in the U.K., there will be no good reason for anyone to marry except childless homosexuals in love. WESTERN CULTURE IS TOAST.

We have to admit that both those on the right and those on the left look to the government to legislate morality.

Look at anti-gay marriage laws.

That isn’t from the left, it is from the right.

Is government the answer?

I agree that the stigma on bearing an illegitimate child has disappeared. It is merely quibbling over details to argue about whether that came first or acceptance of divorce came first. The point is, if we are to stop this slide, action needs to be taken.

If the Republicans are to make morality an issue, they need to clean their own house first.

Yup. When that reprobate said that fellatio was not a sex act it was the nail in the coffin. The Clintons told the world’s children that lying, cheating, adultery, stealing, promiscuity, and corruption were okay. Then on top of that the sonuvabitch sold top secret technology to a country that had declared in its f***ing platform that the United States was its sworn enemy!

The Scripture descirbes the times very accurately:

2 Timothy 3:1-5

3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters,
proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers,
incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers
of God;
3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from
such turn away.

Actually, it started long before Monica. Hollywood took Clinton’s election as a sign that the 60’s counterculture was at last triumphant, and that they had license to embed all of its values in their products. Which is also part of the reason why their hatred for GWB is so white-hot and irrational - they felt it was a step backwards from their cultural goals.

It is not good when the nation’s founding document precludes “prohibiting the free exercise therof.”

Hairshirts fell out of fashion long ago.

Although judges are a part of the problem, the main problem with social decline is the people, in my opinion, not the judges.

More specifically, ignorance of the Constitution and its history is epidemic. Widespread constitutional ignorance is evidenced by the following links.

http://tinyurl.com/hehr8
The consequence of widespread constitutional ignorance is that the people are impotent to stop renegade, pagan-minded judges from exposing families to all kinds of perversions and corrupting influences.

But despite today's liberal perversions of our 1st A. freedoms, Thomas Jefferson had noted that it was never the intention of the Founders for free speech, press, etc., not to be regulated in some way. The truth of the matter is that the Founding States had reserved the power to regulate our 1st A. freedoms for themselves regardless that they prohibited the federal government from doing so. See for yourself.

"3. Resolved that it is true as a general principle and is also expressly declared by one of the amendments to the constitution that ‘the powers not delegated to the US. by the constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively or to the people’: and that no power over the freedom of religion, freedom of speech, or freedom of the press being delegated to the US. by the constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, all lawful powers respecting the same did of right remain, & were reserved, to the states or the people: that thus was manifested their determination to retain to themselves the right of judging how far the licentiousness of speech and of the press may be abridged without lessening their useful freedom, and how far those abuses which cannot be separated from their use should be tolerated rather than the use be destroyed; and thus also they guarded against all abridgement by the US. of the freedom of religious opinions and exercises, & retained to themselves the right of protecting the same, as this state, by a law passed on the general demand of it’s citizens, had already protected them, from all human restraint or interference: ..." --Thomas Jefferson, Kentucky Resolutions, 1798. http://tinyurl.com/oozoo
As a side note, consider that post Civil War constitutional lawmakers came to grips with the problem that some states had been abusing their 10th A. protected powers and made the 14th A., the honest interpretation of this amendment limiting such powers.

Getting back to state powers to protect family values from corrupting influences, the question to ask concerning the unwanted influence of today's corrupt judges is what happened to the 10th A. protected powers of the states to regulate such things as abortion, pornography, gay marriage, etc.? Indeed, when was the last time that you heard anything about the 10th Amendment?

The key to understanding the mysterious disapperance of the 10th A. is to consider that constitutional flunky FDR foolishly encouraged the USSC to politically ignore the 10th Amendment. He did so so that the USSC could give the green light his constitutionally unauthorized New Deal Programs.

But what's worse is that corrupt justices then began using FDR's license to ignore the 10th A. and traditional family values to advance their special-interest agendas.

This post (<-click), while addressing taxes, helps to explain how 10th A. protected state powers were wrongly politically repealed by the USSC when FDR established his constitutionally unauthorized New Deal programs.

And this post (<-click) exposes how corrupt justices then began using FDR's politically correct license to ignore the 10th A. to unlawfully stifle traditional family values, including the USSC's scandalous legalization of abortion in Roe v. Wade. Note that the post first references two non-abortion cases in order to show Roe v. Wade in a different, troubling perspective.

Again, regardless that Founder's reserved for the states the power to decide limits on our 1st A. freedoms to protect family values, FDR's 10th A.-ignoring establishment of federal spending programs set off a chain-reaction of case decisions by special-interest, pagan-minded judges which have tragically eroded traditional family values.

The bottom line is that the people need to wise up to the very serious problem of wide-spread corruption in the federal and state governments, particularly where the 10th A. protected powers of the states are being ignored. The people need get in the faces of judges who are not upholding their oaths to defend the will of the majority as reflected by state and federal laws and constitutions, demanding that they resign from their jobs.

The signatures being collected from Californians to decide on a one-man, one-woman marriage amendment to their constitution in November, for example, is definitely a good idea.

“We have to admit that both those on the right and those on the left look to the government to legislate morality.....Is government the answer?”

Actually, all anyone is attempting to legislate is “behavior”. To some extent government has to be a small part of the answer. However, obviously it is not the full answer. The mindset of people has to change, and that is outside of government.

“There won’t be a revolution because first they will take away the guns.”

Which will be the very act that will guarantee a revolution.

The Scripture descirbes the times very accurately:
2 Timothy 3:1-5
3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

So when in the two millennia that have passed since this was written was such NOT the case? (I myself am guilty of much of same, for all I struggle against it...)

No because by that time we will be in the same position as the no smoking laws. Slowly they creep until Bamb! They start with passing small laws that slowly take away all you have. We are a bunch of sheep being hypmotized slowly but surely.
