Whilst I am sure the interview will be very interesting I fail to see why it is on a political talk show unless it is the power player of the week.

Or unless they are going to talk about the politics of horse racing and gambling etc.

As I posted elsewhere, on the Good Ship GOP, captain John McCain, conservatives are the rats. The folks who run the ship are trying to exterminate us politically, and if the ship sinks, we all drown. The only hope is to not go on this voyage.

What an apt nickname - no doubt once the President leaves office we will hear a few more nicknames coming out and I suspect not all will be that complimentary

Fishtalk, if we were to enact an oil drilling threat , would just the threat
of drilling our own oil be enough to put a stop to some of this crazy over reaction by the speculators?

Thinking out loud here

Glad to hear you are healing just fine, Pat. And I agree about Mort. He was practically having a temper tantrum on the Panel the other night. As was some guest on Fox this morning reporting on the recovery of Uncle Ted...he, too, said mentioning Hitler and playing politics overseas was just too much and this would reallllllly hurt the Repubs. Ha! The Repubs haven't had a good day in months...it was the first time in ages that we actually smiled and cheered. Ellen RATner offered advice to the GOP this morning saying to keep it up with using W in the campaign--that it would backfire. Jim P. just laughed in her face.

And speaking of presidents on foreign soil...Bubba and Jimmah have certainly never sung the praises of President Bush. And if we want to talk about undermining the President, remember Grandma Pelosi in her babushka over in Syria. And the list goes on...

In CO, we have a candidate running for US Senate named Bob Schaffer.  Bob retired from the US House, as he promised he would do.  Unlike some, who did not walk the talk, Schaffer could have won reelection but chose to do what he said he would do.  As Newt Gingrich once said: "promises made, promises kept."

Now Schaffer, who is an honest and trusted conservative, is getting support from every Republican in our state.  This is exactly the person with character and values that we need to elect and reelect.  If McCain wins in CO, one reason will be Schaffer's coat tails and not the other way around.

Hugh Hewitt commented on Friday that he was sending a donation to Bob Schaffer.  If anyone is looking for someone to support, Schaffer could use the help since he's up against Mark Udall and a bunch of rich Democrats who are pouring money behind Udall.

not ONE republican got on a soap box to shout out what a fool Durbin was, or to even challenge the stupidity of the statement.

They should have been out there yelling "si, se puede!" from the rooftops. Not one peep.

Whilst on some levels I can see the sense of this suggestion. McCain may not want to or physically be able to do all the visits that a sitting President does from visiting the local burger or taco bar to addressing chamber of commerce meeting and Huckerbee would probably be a great speaker/entertainer at those event (as long as his speeches were vetted first and he refrained from funny off the cuff remarks which in my opinion everyone including himself overeacted to the last one. You could tell it was totally unrehearsed and was delivered without any malicious or nasty undertones.

Good to see you posting and glad to know you’re getting better with each day.

Guys, its been fun. I’m taking my manic bipolar oughta here. We’re off to watch Civil War reenactors while there is sun and mild temps.

Take care all and have a great week.

To finish my conclusion on Huckerbee as VP in people’s wildest dreams IMHO McCain will not consider him as I think he would see him as a too powerful and ambition VP (in his mind I mine plus their views I am certain would be at odds most of the time).

And Republicans could start stating a goal for 9% max on all tax rates, demonizing Democrats and their double digit tax rates by showing how high they are now, as prices and high taxes are dragging down everybody’s budget.

.
I think the Bill O’Reilly fit is coming up on CNN ‘unReliable Sources with Bias Howard Kurtz’, O’Reilly is a Pro-Life Democrat, eating their own.

*dons fire proof suit*

You know in a way...wht Malkin...Rush and a few on here are saying IS correct.

We are screwed. But not in the way you all are thinking.

Right now...just reading through the (as I write this) almost 90 on this thread...for the most part I can’t tell any difference between the whining that DU does about Her Thighness and Barakstar! and the bellyaching going on here.

Except for the fact that we already know who our nominee will be and they won’t know til Denver...maybe.

But where the Dems have us over a barrel is that even with all their squabbling and sniping over who should be the candidate...they will ALL support whoever comes out on top.

Can we sit here and say the same thing?

There are far too many here willing to engage in self immolation because their specific candidate didn’t get the nod that yet again...it opens the door for the Dems to put their collective boot in our @ss.

At some point if the Republican party wants to do more than influence this country sporadically every couple decades or so...we have to quit this petty bickering like a bunch of pre-schoolers.

Ok so McCain gets his rocks off talking tough to fellow Republicans and kissing @ss to the MSM. We can blunt that effect when he gets elected.

Elect people to the House and Senate that ARE the conservative voices we want. Any president can talk a good game...but he or she can’t get SQUAT done unless they have the votes in Congress.

And while we are squabbling over the fine print with McCain the Dems are running the New Southern Strategy. Putting up people for election that sound more conservative than a Conservative who will then vote the Liberal Party line once they get inside the beltway.

And we are letting them get away with it. We should be ashamed.

If you want to catch a thief...you have to think like a thief.

Same analogy applies to politics.

If we want to beat the Dems we have to think like they do in terms of ruthlessness when it comes to getting OUR people elected.

Otherwise they will continue to steal our candy and punch us in the gut and laugh as they walk away.

I know there will be people who as they read this will start moving the cursor to the alert button...fine...been there done that...I understand there are people who don’t like to hear the reality of how things are.

There are people who will accuse me of being some kind of squishy moderate...fine...do that too...I’ll go dig up my posts openly supporting Thompson and speaking of the virtues of Hunter and Tancredo.

The fact of the matter is I’m talking about the reality of the situation that is in front of us today. Some don’t want to hear it...that’s on them.

But the fact of the matter is...while we are bellyaching about who will be in the White House the Dems are making moves to guarentee that whether someone with an R or a D are sitting in the Oval Office...they will be dealing from a position of strength.

Can we say the same thing?
