The first story posted said it was melanoma and it still might be the origin. Source? I know quite a bit about brain tumors and I've been following the Kennedy story throughout the day. Your comment is the first and only one that has referenced melanoma. Every other story has described glioma, an aggressive primary cancerous tumor. A primary tumor means that it did not metastasize to the brain from another site. A glioma originates in the brain and grows very quickly.

I hope he uses his time to draw closer to Him.As I watched the news on this today, I was hoping and am hoping the same for him as well. At least he has some time to reconcile with the Lord, if he feels he needs to and wants to. If he had died instantly this past Saturday, he wouldn't have been afforded this luxury, this privilege.

That said...it says something about the observational powers of Massachusetts physicians that it took them the better part of eight decades to find a part of Ted that was malignant. That sounds like the inverse of the comment made when Randolph Churchill was operated on for a tumor which was removed. The tumor was benign, and the popular joke was that the surgeons had removed the only part of Randolph that wasn't malignant.(Winston's only son was widely hated for a number of good reasons.)

Would you prefer others think ill or hateful thoughts about your friend?
I will say a prayer for your friend this evening, even though I don’t know him. Will you extend the same courtesy to Senator Kennedy?

Sad news. I’m praying for him and his family.
I’m stopping it right here, although there is definitely more I’d like to say.

May you never be so hated by someone who doesn’t know you personally. Senator Kennedy is a human first, a politician later

I am not malking this up. A long time ago, one of my pals, whose name was Ted, walked around showing off an elegant silver plated cigarette case (remember those?) on which he had inscribed the following:
"To Teddy from Kennedy"

The things they said about Cheney when he had his last heart issue were disgusting
That's why FR is such a wonderful place. We have our share of fruits and flakes, but overall we're a pretty decent bunch of people who have the maturity and class not to make fun of someone who's dying.

No matter whom is stricken from such an illness, we ALL need a prayer and time for redemption.
As much as I dislike the man I could not feel anything but sadness for him, as well as his family, when I heard the news.
God Bless.

I understand what you’re saying. But if we stoop to the level of our enemy we are not a better person than them. We become just like them. No one said anyone had to like someone’s politics, make them your best buddy or invite them over for a BBQ. Compassion should be a human trait.

I saw the news at work this morning and my thoughts immediately went to that quote, so I looked it up.
“A typical triumph of modern science to find the only part of Randolph that was not malignant and remove it.”
—Evelyn Waugh, diary entry (March 1964), after hearing that doctors had removed a benign tumor from Randolph Churchill.

Good luck to you, Mr. Kennedy.
Wonder how long he's known something was up with this? I can see many people his age knowing and just keeping their mouth shut.
