An attorney and top foreign policy adviser to Sen. Barack Obama is coming under fire for representing controversial figures, including an accused human-rights abuser, an alleged murderer of a U.S. soldier and even the would-be assassin of former President Ronald Reagan.
Greg Craig, who has been termed the "lawyer of the left," represented John Hinckley, Jr., who attempted to assassinate Reagan in 1981 by firing six bullets at the president as he left a hotel. Craig was reportedly the architect of Hinckley's successful defense in which he was found not guilty by reason of insanity, even though reports by the federal prosecution found Hinckley sane.
As a partner in the high-powered Washington, D.C., law firm of Williams & Connolly, Craig represented Former Bolivian Defense Minister Carlos Sanchez-Berzain in a federal lawsuit of "crimes against humanity" due to his alleged role in the suppression of labor union riots in 2003 that resulted in the deaths of 67 people

Oh...my...god...
Enjoy!!
This definitely needs to be sent to Rush, Hannity, Savage, Levin and the rest of the conservative talk show hosts. The MSM, obviously, will try to bury this along with anything else that is negative about Hitler II.
Can you please move this to breaking news? :-)
Yet another Scumbag Friend and Associate of Barry.
Incredible isn’t it? The associations of Obama are mind-boggling.
Why is it that I am not surprised?
It all makes sense to me, Obama fits in perfectly with these people, all peas in a pod.
Everyone is trying to help Obama into office despite all this stuff. He’s got soooo many bizarre ties, any 2 which should have knocked him out of the race.
But there are at least a dozen things about this guy that one can name and yet the kool-aid is still served. And lots of it in Oregon.
This country will not be the same after 4 years of Obamessiah.
This is Good! Hope there is more coming that will end this Muslim Marxist’s political career for good. Course, that will leave Hillary as the Dim candidate.
And the leftist pundits criticize McCain for having campaign staff who lobby for foreign governments. This is a thousand times worse. Oh the Hypocracy!
bttt
Those of us old-timers here know well of
Greg Craig. He’s been around the liberal
block a time or two.

Crisis Quarterback: Gregory Craig Is Calling the Plays On Clinton’s Team
By Lloyd Grove and John F. Harris
Washington Post Staff Writers
Thursday, November 19, 1998; Page D01
Gregory B. Craig’s friends were perplexed two months ago when he gave up one of the most prestigious jobs in Washington to take one of the most troublesome:
Why descend from the rarefied aerie of foreign policy into the squalid mess of a sex scandal?
Even Craig — who’ll be in the game today as President Clinton’s designated “quarterback” when the House Judiciary Committee opens its impeachment hearings — wasn’t eager for the new assignment.
*snip*
He also served as the U.S. special coordinator on Tibet, managing a critical piece of the Sino-American relationship. These plum assignments were the logical extension of Craig’s quarter-century as a blue-chip Washington lawyer, influential Senate staffer and key player in the foreign policy establishment.
But getting mixed up in Clinton’s personal problems struck some as a lousy career move. Moreover, Craig was joining a White House staff simmering with factional disputes since the Monica Lewinsky matter became public in January.
Yet Craig was hardly new to the business of rescuing public figures from perilous personal crises.
While at the powerhouse law firm of Williams & Connolly — where he was a partner of David Kendall, now Clinton’s private attorney — Craig safely guided his former boss, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), through hazardous televised testimony in the 1991 Palm Beach rape trial of nephew William Kennedy Smith.
“There’s no one I’d rather be with in a crisis,” says Ethel Kennedy, another member of the famous clan who has relied on Craig’s advice in recent years.
Have faith. We survived Clintons Arkanside years.
LOL. Love that headline.
The guy is a long time lefty—worked for Albright. John Kerry took some heat for pegging him as an advisor, too.

Lawyer of the Left...whatever happened to Ramsey Clark?
Oh, thank you for that. I didn’t know.
Yes he shows a lot of judgment... If elected, he’ll probably want to scan an FBI list to see if there are any good candidates for his cabinet.
Please tell me it isn’t so, but horse sense, that finest of American qualities seems to be fading. For example, I’m really surprised that the Reverend Wright business proved to be just a sort of road bump and not a thick brick wall.
God Bless America? No no no... God £$&&//&% America?!?! Even if his preacher of twenty years had said a more benign “God Help America!” the whole premise of the outburst should have made Obama disappear. In better times, I’m sure it would have. You can’t have had a greater exhibition of BAD JUDGMENT than that one. Even this latest news pales in comparison... and yet there he is!
Okay, I’m a foreigner, what do I know? But my impression is that Obama is not really an American. He treats his country with the disdain and detachment of some foreign leftist. Therein lies the big danger, in my opinion, even more, than the classical struggle between right wing and left wing politics, in which one supposes that both candidates at least love their country.
Hinckley is not a Leftist.
Hinckley is a Jodyist.
The Sick PoS.
The resume’s of the Obama ‘folks’ is coming out in dribbles and drabs; but heavy with warnings.
Repubs should make a scrolling ad; resume like; with the highlights of ‘work experience/background’ of those close to Obama.
Could say a great deal; in small amount of space/time.
Well, well, well.
Greg Craig...talk about shades of the past..It’s all just one big incestuous circle, isn’t it?
America has gone more silly than I could have ever imagined, in a much shorter time that I could have ever imagined.
Because Obamessiah is thin and looks nice in a suit and speaks well, it is beyond the depth of many Americans to critically examine the man.
Further, folks are so determined for “change” that they are picking “the opposite” thinking it will turn out good. It won’t.
Nobody’s happy with most politicians so they’re picking this clown from nowhere. Extraordinarily dangerous with the most powerful office of the strongest military in the world.
Scary ....
Sure is ..

Washington elite lead Clinton backlash
By: John F. Harris
January 29, 2008 12:26 PM EST
In September 1998, Greg Craig, a lion of the Washington legal community, left a top job at the State Department to go to the White House to help Bill Clinton fight impeachment during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
One of his first stops was to an old Democratic friend, Sen. Kent Conrad of North Dakota, who warned him what he was stepping into: Youre about three days away from a delegation of senior Democrats coming up there to ask the president to resign.
That anecdote, recounted in Peter Bakers history of the impeachment saga, came echoing back to mind in recent days.
Washingtons liberal establishment members of Congress, fundraisers and commentators has coalesced around the view that Bill Clinton is soiling his legacy and wounding Hillary Rodham Clintons prospects as he rambles around the country in a peevish, piece-of-my-mind monologue ostensibly devoted to helping her win the Democratic nomination.
Conrad was one of the first Democratic senators to endorse Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.). Craig, who once worked for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), is now a senior adviser to Obama. Over the past week, he played an important behind-the-scenes role in facilitating the Democratic races latest thunderclap: Kennedys endorsement of Obama for president.
Kennedy has been supportive of both Clintons in the past. But, according to advisers who have spoken with him, Kennedy was motivated to publicly bless Obama in part because he was offended by what he regarded as Clintons divisive and distorted arguments against his wifes chief rival.
Bill Clinton, in other words, botched a big one at a moment when Hillary Clinton can afford it least.
It is striking how many people around town seem to be loving it. But it should not really be surprising.
Clinton spent so long as the dominant personality in the Democratic Party that it is easy to forget: Lots of elite Democrats never liked the guy that much. Or, perhaps more precisely, their feelings of admiration were constantly at war with feelings of disdain.
The ferocity of anti-Clinton sentiments heard around Washington in recent days as even some former Clinton White House aides say they are enjoying the Kennedy endorsement and the implicit rebuke of the Clintons has reached levels that havent been seen for seven years. Clintons pardons in the closing hours of his presidency prompted a similar backlash.
One of the partys most experienced fundraisers, a former Clinton administration appointee who is close to the Democratic leadership in Congress and both leading presidential campaigns, said that several top Democratic contributors have told him they are furious with what they perceive as Bill Clintons campaign of complaints, mini-tirades and smart-alecky talking points.
It was enough to send this Democrats wife off the fence and to Obama over the weekend.
The toxic relationship between the Clintons and Washington was always one of the main paradoxes of the Clinton administration and one of its main mysteries.
