Why do conservatives give a crap about what people do in there personal lives?

McCain is against gay marriage, but for other legal arrangements....what's the problem here and why all the hyperventilating?

Sign, veto, who cares? Dems + Rinos will have a veto proof majority. So much for the Imperial Presidency.

“other legal arrangements”

becomes gay marriage by another name.

Polygamy anyone?

First, welcome to FeeRepublic. Second, it is deceptive to say homosexual marriage is a private matter. It is not. This issue goes to the very core of our society. It matters. To say otherwise is an attempt at misdirection.

It is not a "private matter" that grade school kids are now being indoctrinated about homosexual behavior. Kids that heretofore had no idea what sex was in the first place.

“Dems + Rinos will have a veto proof majority”

Another reason to not vote for Mcstain.

Let the marxists get all the “credit” for the screw ups.

Because they don’t keep it ‘personal’!! Ever seen the perversions at a gay pride parade?

Uggghhhh.......LOL

IMO, I don't care what they do behind closed doors, but when they turn their private lives into a public and political issue, we have the right to respond.
In fact, often they make that all about who they are. "I am Gay". No, being gay is a small portion of their lives. And WE shouldn't have to change all laws on traditional things (marriage) so they can feel "equal".

Since when is marriage a private matter?

While I think McCain was saying the right things, he really seemed subpar in his answers. I know he did not want to offend Ellen, especially on her own show, and I can commend him for that. However, she articulated her position MUCH better than he did.

He doesn’t want to offend liberals. A losing strategy.

Why do conservatives give a crap about what people do in there personal lives?

Conservatives don't care what people do in their personal lives. But they do care about tinkering with and debasing our public institutions.

If the argument for gay marriage is simply to ease "the other legal arrangements", why not address "the other legal arrangements" directly thru legislation? Why attack the institution of marriage via the courts?

Unless, that is, the gay advocates have another agenda...

McCain's against gay marriage.

I'm in favor of civil unions that hold the partners to account legally for their behavior.

McCain is against it. I applaud him for saying it in a hostile forum.
