A Dallas man died early Wednesday morning when he accidentally jumped to his death off an overpass following a traffic accident, police said.
Chalk Hill Road and West Davis Street Richard Mauricio Jr., 19, crashed into another car at Chalk Hill Road and West Davis Street around 2:30 a.m., said Dallas police Senior Cpl. Jerry Monreal.
The other driver told police that Mr. Mauricio then got out of the car and ran west on Davis Street. He jumped over a railing and plummeted to his death.
Senior Cpl. Monreal said its hard to tell that there is such a drop on the other side of the railing.
Its like a three-story fall, he said. He might not have known."

“Rule #1 of jumping:
Know where you’re going to land.”
Rule #2: Know the distance to your destination.
I’d say the death penalty is a little harsh for a traffic accident, but when it’s self-awarded, what can you do?
He ran cause he was scared and depressed. He wasn’t in his right mind at the time. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions so easily.
it was dark and you couldn’t tell there was such a long drop.
Are you being sarcastic or did you join FR just to defend this guy???
Inquiring minds want to know!
Uh, exactly where in the story is this mentioned? Where? With that in mind, who are you to lecture me on jumping to conclusions?
BTW, since you joined FR on the day you posted your remark, and have only posted twice on this one thread, I'd like to know just what pony you have in this race? Are you connected to this story, thus use your inside knowledge to criticize others who don't benefit as you do?
I do not feel sorry for this person. In Jan 08 I was struck by a flying tire (driver windshield) that came off an uninsured motorist front wheel. He got out of his car and left the scene, the police impounded his car, he later came back and said he did not know he struck me. When I filed my claim against his insurance it was void, he got insurance at 10:38am and the accident happened at 6:45am. He was a hispanic, I wish everyone would at least carry liability insurance.
The car he was driving, a Honda four-door, had struck another car near the intersection of West Davis Street and Chalk Hill Road, said Senior Cpl. Jerry Monreal, police spokesman.http://www.star-telegram.com/189/story/656566.html
if you didn’t see the word accidentally fell to his death. It was night and dark and did not look like there was a fifty foot drop there. Not all hispanics are illegals either. And just cause someone leaves the scene you guys feel he deserves to die. So one mans life means that little. I imagine some of you feel it’s ok to kill someone over a couple of dollars, just cause they were yours. I wish people could learn to put themselves in other peoples shoes. You never know what is truly going on behind the scenes. I just think it’s so wrong to make such cruel comments like you do and to judge like that. Never judge until you know the whole story. People like most of you are just hateful. Think if it was someone you know or better yet a sister, brother, daughter, son or even yourself.
where does it say he did not have insurance, I did not read that anywhere. Also just cause the one that hit you with a tire was hispanic does not make all hispanics bad. And just in case your wondering I am caucasion, born in Nebraska. I am tired of all the hate people spread, I have seen people jump to too many conclusions and later find out they were way off. Remember you have no idea what is going on with someone else until you have truly walked in their shoes.
He still could have been fleeing the scene because of drugs, no license/insurance, a stolen car, a body in the trunk, and accidentally fallen to his death. You yourself are jumping to conclusions.
Not all hispanics are illegals either.
Where did I say he was? You're definitely the one jumping to conclusions this time.
And just cause someone leaves the scene you guys feel he deserves to die.
Where did I say he deserved to die? I was speculating on why he fled.
I imagine some of you feel its ok to kill someone over a couple of dollars, just cause they were yours.
Here you go, jumping to conclusions again (exactly what you accuse me and others of...
I wish people could learn to put themselves in other peoples shoes.
If I'd been in his shoes I'd be dead...
You never know what is truly going on behind the scenes.
Neither do you, so why jump to conclusions yourself?
I just think its so wrong to make such cruel comments like you do and to judge like that.
Again, who's judging? We're just speculating.
People like most of you are just hateful.

You joined this forum on May 22, 2008. The ONLY thread you've visited that day, OR ANY TIME, is this thread. You've only posted four times on this thread, and each time to criticize others.
WE WANT TO KNOW WHY YOU JOINED THIS FORUM AND WHY YOU FEEL SO ADAMANT ABOUT CRITICIZING OTHERS BEFORE GETTING TO KNOW US. PLEASE BE KIND ENOUGH TO PROVIDE AN ANSWER
This doesn’t pertain to Juan (well, I suppose it could if the perp’s name was Juan), but we have a real nutty situation going on here. Things are sure getting strange :)
The fact that she joined up the day this thread was published, and only comes on forum to criticize others on this thread, makes me wonder if she’s the author of the Dallas Morning News article, trolling the web to see how her piece has been received.
"NT" ping.
Hey, Darkwing, check out this thread...
Yeah, a coy way to show support for amnesty without coming out and saying it. Pick a thread about some poor Hispanic (even though the guy died while fleeing the scene of an accident) and tell everyone how unsympathetic and intolerant they are...
“Could be, but I thought the name seemed more Italian to me.”
Just a slightly longer swim to get here.
Maybe it crashed into the car on purpose trying to commit suicide... or maybe he didn’t know... or maybe he was drunk. Who knows? only God. none of us ever will.
