No way, Josť! DUI illegals treated as 'special'

Some illegal immigrants may have found a way to ensure they will never lose their driver's licenses for drunk driving in California – even if they can't read.

Christian Rodier, office assistant at Special Treatment Education and Prevention Services, or STEPS, in Bakersfield, Calif., told WND he believes repeat drunk driving offenders who are illiterate and who fail to produce proof of citizenship are receiving preferential treatment when they take classes to dismiss DUIs.

"There are some clients who do not provide any Social Security numbers whatsoever," he said. "When a client calls over the phone to have a schedule change, I have to ask him for his birth date and Social Security number. Sometimes there's no Social Security number whatsoever. That's a red flag to me."

Though some students with drunk driving offenses do not provide proper documentation, he said the clinic allows them to take the course so they can have their driving privileges reinstated.

"I guess they just enroll them anyway because they're afraid if they don't enroll them, they'll get sued," he said.

Rodier said the STEPS program is not only for first-time offenders. Often times, people who have had two or three drunk-driving offenses register for the classes.

"There are some people who have gotten a DUI, taken a course, gotten their license and gotten a DUI and repeated the whole process over again," he said.

More proof that illegals have more rights than we do... I guess it helps when the companies that hire illegals lobby state legislatures on their behalf.

Another fine example of a government education program.

There was a case in Ohio recently where an illegal drunk driver killed a man on his way home to his wife and daughter. He couldn't be charged with reckless homicide or manslaughter because he didn't have a licence.

When will the people of this country wake up from the mesmerization of diversity to see that are being killed by this invasion?

What BS. If any of us was caught driving without a license, especially if DUI death was involved, we'd have the book thrown at us. Maybe everyone in Ohio should just drive without their licenses and claim they are illegal too?

LOL...this *special* treatment of illegals seems to be nationwide.....No matter the crimes.

I've read where *illegal* CHILD MOLESTERS are given the *option* of self-deportation, rather than serving any U.S. jail time.

When you steal an identity and drive, there is little to prevent the cycle from repeating. Hit and run, DUI, etc. are just additional charges to a life of crime that the Democrats not only accept but openly encourage.

California exodus turns to stampede High taxes drive jobs, people from one state to another

It's all related. And not restricted to CA. Upstate NY's rapidly becoming a ghost town. Same reasons.

Don't forget the leadership of the Republican party. From Bush on down, there's no additional crime an illegal alien can commit that will dissuade the country-clubs from their amnesty plan. McCain is full-steam-ahead with "reform."

I’m “retired” but bailiff in our County Court at Law (in Texas), I also translate for Mexican defendants. They don’t get special treatment, they pay the same price and then they are reported (and held) to INS for deportation after sentencing. At least the procedures are followed correctly. Just follow the damned law folks—and enforce them correctly, amazing how that works.

In-freakin'-credible.

I'd like to know even more on that case...please post any other
details you might remember (e.g., city in Ohio, etc.).
Thanks in advance.

(Ohio House) Bill rises from ashes of tragedy

There's not much on it but if you search with the info here you should be able to find some follow up.

It used to be that way here, fortunately the courts have backed up our LEOs and local politicians. Illegals serve their time first - then are sent home.

Yep. That’s what I hear from people in Colorado - so many Californians moving in that a lot of areas are turning into little Californias, complete with the same attitude.
