SORT OF anti-communist. There’s a subplot that the FBI was suspecting Indy of spying, so there’s some ‘commentary’ on the anti-commie hysteria of the 50s. Weird thing is, the subplot didn’t go anywhere and was never resolved.
Not only that, the final scene was completely forced and frankly, stupid. I was wondering if Spielberg lost interest in his own movie at the end, or the screenwriters had amnesia, or they just had better things to do that day than shoot a quality movie scene.
It was fun I suppose, with the car chases, the stunts, the archaeological puzzles, but not a very good movie in terms of consistency. Prince Caspian and Iran Man are much better.
Oh, almost forget- I also had to endure some preachy enviro-nazi propaganda from Harrison Ford before the movie stated.

You're assuming that a movie is filmed chronologically.
