The Fallacy of Clinton's 1968 Analogy
ABC News ^ | May 24, 2008 | By Jake Tapper

Lost in the uproar over Sen. Hillary Clinton's invoking of the assassination of Robert Kennedy when explaining why her staying in the race won't hurt party unity is an actual examination of her comparison of the 2008 Democratic primary season to the one from 1968.

Clinton yesterday before the Argus Leader editorial board also invoked her husband's race in 1992. We've already twice now looked at how her reference to how her husband was still campaigning in June 1992 is a disingenuous claim.

Bottom line is Barak does not have enough pledged delegates to be nominated, and there are still delegates to be won. Everyone in the media who says she should get out is simply shilling fot Obama. Period.

Even if OsamaObama has the most number of superdelegates coming into the convention, The Beast isn’t going to concede until Obama gets the official nod - as it should be. She’s too smart to pull out now. Between now and then MeeShell or “Rev” Wright might say something else stupid - leaving the superdelegates in a pickle unless they can gracefully change their vote for someone more “electable” and ready to go. Hillary isn’t going anywhere.

Utter nonsense.
Your post reads like it is written by a kool aid drinking media savant.

Hugin simply pointed out the truth; something that is anathema to dogma swilling MSM types.

For me I like seeing the Left debate this "issue." The usual MO is don't look back, make up another "issue."

But this time it's an extremely rare event. The target of this powerful weapon is one of their own.

"Issues" merely accumulate smears with the intent to permanently defame the target, 999 percent of the time the target is a conservative. Macaca, anyone?

An added bonus: Hillary is an expert marksman with the "issues that are not issues" weapon.

This may take her out of the running for VP. Obama would have to watch his back if she was the running mate.

40 years ago today, the 1968 CA primary with its possibly decisive abundance of delegates, was still in the future; it was in June ‘68.

This year, the CA primary happened in February, and there is nothing in the remaining primaries that is big enough to shape the race or change the outcome.

Therefore Clinton’s reference to the ‘68 primary is flawed, as far as deciding the outcome by delegates or even votes.
The race went into June in ‘68, because the CA primary was in June and could affect the outcome.

Something could happen in the race in June 2008, but it wouldn’t be votes and it wasn’t what was on her mind.

The fact of the matter is that the Clintons were advocates of the Putin style of leadership before Putin. They are becoming increasingly disenchanted with the populist/Democrat path to power. While I have posted my reservations about Obama many times, I still detest the Clintons and fear their return to power. The Democratic party has no good alternatives for small d democrats, Republicans or true independents.

Let's see. The Clinton's friend Huckabee suggests a shot at Obama at the NRA convention. Now Hillary is suggesting that she could win if Obama, like RFK, were gunned down.

I would start looking for connections to Oswald.

If I were Obama I would start wearing a bullet proof vest.

The RFK reference, presuming he had just won the 1968 nomination, is revisionist history anyways.

Have a look at TV coverage earlier on the night that RFK was shot. Their delegate counts showed Humphrey with a 2 to 1 lead over RFK. Even with
California, RFK would have been far behind Humphrey going into the convention.

Search RFK 1968, on youtube, for copies of the broadcast videos.

Obama would have to watch his back if she was the running mate.

Hussein, not being stupid and having politically grown up in Chicago, has surely been considering this all along. He was an aware adult already in 1992.
