Another thing just occurred to me. Can we report any activity that we deem questionable and have our word taken for it, to the point that it ends up going through the court system? The potential for abuse if this were the case would be staggering.

At the very end of the meal, Wilcutt took one hydrocodone pill. She wanted to stop at the mall and get bath salts, a trip she estimated at 10 minutes, max. She figured the pain pill would kick in as she reached her house and settled into the tub.

It takes 45 minutes for a pill to take effect. She'd have been home if the cops hadn't stopped her.

I agree. A warning should have been good enough and her record cleared if no further incidents over a period of time.

I want to be sympathetic because the cops did go overboard. But too tired to cook to me means too tired to drive. Get home and call some delivery. Then there’s the whole eating at Mimi’s problem (blech), but that’s a discussion for another day.

She was still impaired whether it was booze or pills.

Did you read the article? She was not impaired, but some busybody thought she was. But I agree with you. EXECUTE HER IMMEDIATELY. If a malicious busybody thinks you're impaired, then you should be judged guilty. Far better ten innocent be punishd than one guilty go free, da komrad? Don't worry about evidence or reasonable doubt. J'accuse Mme Wilcutt du contre- sentiment révolutionnaire. The committee for public safety should send her to the guillotine immediately.

The businessman was showing that he is a good subject of the police state. Informing on your fellow citizens is a duty that we all should take seriously (as you apparently do)

Concerned citizens aren’t the problem. That hasn’t changed over the years. IMO the problem is how LE and the courts respond now. Just about everything is a jail or felony offense.

She drank half a mimosa and she’s a big girl. For all intents and purposes, she didn’t drink any alcohol.

No reasonable person would say it’s unsafe for her to have half a mimosa with one hydrocodone pill, imo.

Another interesting aspect of this case is that she ran a stop sign in a parking lot.

A minor correction -- She was reported to have run a stop sign by the person who was already convinced that she was drunk. Whether she did or not is unclear to me. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't.

never, ever, ever show up in court without a lawyer. Judges don't like people who aren't greasing the system. They were lawyers once too. Call me cynical, but I'm also realistic.

I'd say you hit the nail on the head. Even if you are going to plead guilty, you should spend the money on a local lawyer to show you are playing the game. If you plan on fighting a charge, it's best to try and get an out of town attorney who doesn't have to worry about irritating jugdes/prosecutors he works along side on an ongoing basis.

Far more effective, researchers have found, are immediate license revocations. If it happens quickly, and happens to everyone who's busted, revocation can be a serious deterrent, Wagenaar says.

Yeah, lets just do away with that whole "due process" thing.

No charges for the pill.
Unsupported charges for the alcohol.

Sorry, but she’s not guilty by any stretch since there is no evidence to support the charges.

Please stop forgetting that everyone is innocent unless and until they are proven to be guilty.

Excellent point. Gold star for you today. :-)

She was not charged with being tired.

She was charged with being under the influence of alcohol above the legal limit, for which there was no evidence.

Not guilty all the way.

Not proven guilty = innocent.

No evidence to support the charge = innocent.

No contest at all.

I did a google search on “surgically removed dentures”, it’s out there, but mostly older people who don’t remove their dentures at night.

I’m a “big girl” too. One vicodin and 15-30 minutes later I’m out of it. Don’t take pain pills and drive.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

MADD is a greater threat to the average American than Al Qaeda.

MADD is the reason why outrages like this continue to happen. Read more about MADD's Neo-Prohibition agenda here, here, and here.

Right! Let's all report all erratic or unexpected behavior we see...see someone stub their toe on a curb stone...call the police they may not just be clumsy, they may be drunk, so call the police.

Every driver that has any kind of accident should be given a drug test and while we're at it how about a deep body cavity search...just in case.

Long Live the Police State!

Sheesh! Guilty until proven innocent. I hope I don't live near you.
