It wasn't Dachau.

Also, see Obama’s quote from 2002 where it was his grandfather, not his uncle, ‘hearing’ about not witnessing, and the reference is to US troops liberating Auschwitz and Treblinka, but NOT any concentration camps that US troops actually liberated. He’s simply plugging in any name(s) of concentration camps that he can think of, not relating an actual specific, REAL story.

I think Obama is just improvising something from an article he read or a Hollywood film, etc. and mangling it. If his family really did have any family tales from a great-uncle (or his grandfather) Obama sure has not concerned himself with getting any of the facts right, that’s for sure.

The thing is, simply talking about his grandfather’s wartime service would have been good enough, and most honorable, but he had to go and try to embellish to score political points. ..... at least that’s how it’s looking to me right now.

Maybe Buchenwald. Sounds like Auschwitz and Treblinka - to uneducated Harvard ears, right?

“Senator Obama’s family is proud of the service of his grandfather and uncles in World War II – especially the fact that his great uncle was a part of liberating one of the concentration camps at Buchenwald. Yesterday he mistakenly referred to Auschwitz instead of Buchenwald in telling of his personal experience of a soldier in his family who served heroically,” Burton says.

I got it. It must be Buchenwald. How symbolic of Obama's attitude that we all have to get out of our comfort zones. Hmmmmm.

I wonder where he got that idea from?

Mistakenly referred to Auschwitz and Treblinka in 2002.

In 2002 it was Auschwitz and Treblinka and it was his grandfather ‘hearing’ about it from fellow soldiers - I think he’s not out of the woods yet unless it is known that his great-uncle really was in on the liberation of Buchenwald and it’s simply his grand-nephew who can’t tell the tale accurately.

Dachau was liberated by the 42nd Infantry Division. It was called the Rainbow Division because it had men for many states as per McArthur. My father,a man who served in three wars, must be rolling in his grave. I only served in one war.

Obama sure finds folks from the wood pile.

Post of the day!

You must a Gen-Xer like me; Obama was born in 1961 I think, and I was 1969. So weird how young he is. Or maybe I’m just old, LOL.
