I just watched the video. He said it. I guess later he can claim that his uncle did go into Auschwitz, and DID liberate the concentration camps, but he didn’t mean he liberated Auschwitz.

Oh, also he could say he didn’t mean uncle, he meant great uncle.

He’ll still stick with the story of how his war-hero uncle locked himself in the closet because he couldn’t handle what he saw, and how we really need a big new government program to provide shrinks to the returning troops.

Fact is, when liberals are trying to justify their huge government programs, they usually know deep down they can’t. So they look for human interest hooks, anecdotes that will make people cry and shame them into voting for the programs. And usually, the liberals make up the stories, because in the end the important thing is getting support for a good program, not whether a specific story is true or not.

That’s how we got the old lady collecting cans to pay for her food (she was in fact well-off but liked to clean up the community and was frugal enough to recycle the cans), or the woman who had to quit her job because she didn’t have good enough insurance (but it turned out she had excellent coverage, including long-term disability, but chose to take time off instead).

Or the family with the 12-year-old who was suffering because republicans wouldn’t expand schip, but it turned out he was already covered by the existing schip, and would continue to be covered by the president’s proposal, and the family wasn’t actually poor, but had a nice house and owned their own business.

Obama has now made up or embellished several stories about his childhood. It’s really not a big deal in the long run, but it’s not just one time, it’s a pattern.

Remember that his father was flown over here by a Kennedy program, except Kennedy wasn’t President when his father came. Remember that his parents got together and had him because of marching with Dr. King, except that was in 1964-ish and they got married in 1960-ish.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the stories about his grandmother being a racist weren’t made up as well. I wonder if he is ashamed of his great uncle who liberated Auschwitz because he’s a typical white guy who must be a racist?

“I guess later he can claim that his uncle did go into Auschwitz”

Maybe as a tourist in the 1990’s! We were never close to Auschwitz during the war.

I would agree that the use he’s putting it to is as bad as the actual fabrication.
