Dunkin' Donuts pulled a television spot featuring talk show host and Food Network personality Rachael Ray this weekend after a Fox news commentator associated it with terrorists.

In the ad, Ray is wearing a scarf that Michelle Malkin said in her nationally syndicated column resembled a kiffiyeh, Middle Eastern garb that is "popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos."

Hey, I really like Michelle, but according to Dunkin Donuts a stylist chose the scarf.

Any scarf with a black and white graphical design would be suspect. This has become ridiculous.

OPINION: It’s not about Michelle Malkin, Rachel Ray or Duncan Donuts.

It’s about symbolism.

I wore many of those kafayas while on combat patrol in A-Stan. Kept the sun and dust out. Millions wear them, they are not all terrorists. This kind of xenophobic overreaction makes us all (Americans) look like asshats.

If you read the article this is not a mere coincidence.
Malkin is right. Radical sheik, how trendy!

Besides, Rachel Ray is a big lefty ditz.

From this post on another thread ... "Keffiyehs can be all sorts of styles, patterns, and colors. Frequently no color, though the pro-palestinian scarf versions are usually black or red with the houndstooth pattern." That pretty much covers any scarf you can imagine.

That jerk Howard Dean wore one, too.

The intent of that pro Pali, loony creep was obvious.

Thanks!

Re: Urban Outfiters:

Most recently, the company halted sales of a violence-promoting t-shirt last week depicting a young Palestinian boy in a keffiyeh carrying an AK-47 assault rifle, over the word “Victimized.” The t-shirt also featured the Palestinian flag, a map of the Palestinian territories and a small white dove.

I don’t know if Rachel Ray is pro-terrorist or she was just unaware of the kind of scarf she was wearing. This points out how we can be misled. Like Michelle said, we have to be constantly vigilant for Democrats, Leftists and terrorist supporters trying to sneak in this kind of subversive, anti-American, pro-Terrorist message.

While I'm certain Rachael Ray completed intended to terrify some random donuts, I don't think it was the message she was trying to get across.

Still, yeah, in a quick spot, the scarf could be mis-identified.

Rachel Ray is a big lefty ditz.

I love her! To me she is georgeous. What proof do you have about this scathing statement? I have never heard anything of the sort.

Looks like conservatives can be as hopelessly sensitive as liberals, in the right circumstances.

The Dunkin’ Donuts in our area are owned by moslems. I won’t knowingly support them. I’ve had enough. (coming from a guy whose every dollar spent at the gas pumps supports moslems...Sigh)
