BOISE - Outgoing Sen. Larry Craig revealed tonight that he is writing a book.
In a live interview on NewsChannel 7 Tuesday night – Craig, 62 - told Dee Sarton that he is in the process of writing a book on energy - that will also talk about his time in Congress – and the events of the past year.
"There will be a bit of what's happened in the last year, and the way it evolved,†Craig said. “I think that's important for Idaho and those outside Idaho who are interested to know."
He hopes the book will be on store shelves in the next year.
"We're in the process of putting it together,†he said. “Usually those books take six or seven months to write, and another eight or nine months (to finish).â€
Craig was arrested in a bathroom at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport last summer, after police say he attempted to solicit gay sex from an undercover officer in a bathroom stall.
Craig said he is mulling over a number of opportunities for his post-Senate career. He said he is having a number of “one way conversations†– right now he can’t engage potential jobs due to Senate ethics rules, but can listen to offers.
"It will probably be not quite retirement. I'm certainly plan to stay busy. A lot of opportunities are beginning to appear."
Craig also reiterated his earlier endorsement of Lt. Gov. Jim Risch to replace him.

Omg. You’re right. This has Broadway musical written all over it.

I’ve seen Craig on C-SPAN a couple of times in the past few months, asking questions in congressional hearings, earnestly endeavoring to be taken seriously.
