This is the apocalyptic scene terrorists hope to create if they ever get their hands on a nuclear bomb.
The computer-generated image below was posted on an Islamic extremists' website yesterday.
It appeared as rumours swept the Internet that the FBI was warning that an Al Qaeda video was about to be released urging militants to use weapons of mass destruction to attack the West.
The information was said to be coming from 'groups that monitor Islamic militant websites'.
The FBI was quick to point out that it had not issued any warning and that the video was not an official Al Qaeda release through its media arm, Al Sahab, but simply an ' amateur' collection of old footage spliced together and posted on the Internet.
U.S. analysts said a lot of effort had been put into the video - entitled Nuclear Jihad, The Ultimate Terror - with graphics, music, and clips of different leaders and groups.
The same expertise seems to have gone into creating this image of a devastated Washington.
Al Sahab puts out more than 80 'officially sanctioned' videos a year to keep up the propaganda on the West. And the Internet shows how easy it is to stir up militancy. One message with the Washington picture said: 'The next strike's in the heart of America. When? When? When? And How?'
Last night FBI sources said Al Qaeda was desperate to get its hands on a weapon of mass destruction, be it nuclear, chemical, or biological.
So far that is only a dream... or, as this picture suggests, a nightmare.
That will depend on who our President is. I just don’t see Hussein doing anything ordering such a response.
They only know how to destroy, not how to create.
Most of them already look like that.
At some point in time we’ll have to decide if wiping them off the face of the earth is worth having liberals play guilt trips on us for fifty to a hundred years.

One result will be both Mecca and a number of hard line Moslem capitols will become tourist attractions. These places will glow in the dark and inspire considerable thought.

The UN, of course, was in urgent session when the weapon in the NY Harbor frieght terminal detonated, so was not available to complain.

That would be a waste of time...so much simpler to describe: picture a sea of glass, glowing with a greenish aura in the moonlight! Actually kinda picturesque. Tho’ I like your idea, if cartoons get their panties in a twist, imagine what a few photoshopped images of the Caliphate would do! Just a shame to mess up Dubai tho’...they’re actually turning that sandpit into an oasis!

Not so fast, home-slice. Your grasp of Muslim "End Times" thought is rather shaky. Particularly in regard to the Shiite POV.
Stop me if this sounds crazy ... but then go look it up. The Shiites welcome Armageddon and the end of all living things on Earth. You see, infidel dog, this will give Allah a clean slate to rebuild a perfect Shi'a world ... somewhere.
No sweat to us Shiites, pal. We go straight to Paradise, where you infidels shall be our slaves for all eternity. Unworthy Muslims, too. Just to be fair about it. In those last days, when the 12th Imam pops out of the Holy Well, Allah the All Wise will make it all crystal clear to you.
