It is notorious for lawlessness and is frequently rocked by gunfights between armed groups jockeying for power. A number of fugitives live in the camp, which is under Palestinian jurisdiction and off limits to Lebanese authorities.

Let me understand this; the "palestinians" have taken over areas of the nation of Lebanon and the Lebanese people have no say in the justisdiction of these areas of their own country? And the "palestinians" also claim Israel as their own country! Well it sems to me the "palestinians" have found a place to live and don't need Israel.

The would-be suicide bomber was identified as Mahmoud Yassin Ahmad, a 28-year-old Palestinian who lives in the Ein el-Hilweh camp. I understand this is expecting too much skill from the AP, but wouldn't the proper description be he "lived" (past tense) at the camp? That is, unless the AP is suggesting he's dead except for when he's within the confines of the camp...and then he's some sort of undead...and in that case, perhaps that'd be a more interesting story.

The man, wearing an explosive belt of 4.41 pounds of TNT and 2.2 pounds of metal balls, tried to blow himself up in an armored personnel carrier with the aim of killing as many soldiers as possible, the official told The Associated Press. Yeah. I guess that would qualify him to be considered a suspected suicide bomber alright.
