That was 93 or 94, I can't remember the years involved but the union was paying striking members $300 per week plus all of comprehensive health insurance costs for the whole 18 months.

Caterpillar offered regular pay which was much more than $300 per week, plus all the overtime anybody wanted. The flood gates were opened.

The cost of the health plan alone was around $1300 per month even back then.
