That's all well and good. Yes, the laity absolutely should be up in arms about Fr. Pfleger. But my suspicion is that the Cardinal has known this guy is a major problem for years and doesn't get rid of him because he can't. Pfleger's probably got reams of dirt on all kinds of people all over Chicago and across the country that he's threatened to release if anyone tries to take any real action against him.

That's how the lavender mafia works. Fr. Paul Shanley, one of the worst child abusers in the country, used exactly this tactic on Cardinal Law in Boston.

Does the Pope know of this “lavender mafia”? Surely he does not.

Maybe someone in Rome needs to know, so they can inform him?And he can fire Priests and whomever Pfleger has dirt on, correct?
