Forget climate change, we should spend on nutrition

Malnutrition should be the world’s major priority for aid and development, a panel of eight leading economists, including five Nobel laureates, declared yesterday.

*snip*

Efforts to control global warming by cutting greenhouse gas emissions, however, were rated at the bottom of the league table, as the economists considered the high costs of such action were not justified by the payoffs.

Show me someone with economic and political freedom living under the rule of law who can’t feed himself...Why don’t we try to help people have that?

There are some people who for good reason can't feed themselves (because of disability or other cause). Nonetheless, your point is spot on: government oppression is responsible for far more starvation and malnutrition than other causes.

Totally agree. We have to import poor people to this country just to have people around we can make ourselves feel good by helping. Our poor have cars, A/C, cell phones, big screen TVs, cable, etc. (and are overweight.)

Churches have to do programs like "Queen for a day" for women who are too "poor" to afford their own spa visits.

As I think you suggest, the way to improve food quality and quantity is to get governments out of agriculture. I’m not holding my breath though.
