What homeschooler would want to soil their reputation by getting the dropout diploma? Anyone knows GED means the holder is dumb, dumb, dumb.

If you want to be a cop and the GED is required, you just do it. You don’t have to hang it on the wall.
Sometimes the rules are dumb, dumb, dumb.

Not necessarily...some kids just don't fit well within the system and end up dropping out and eventually getting a GED even though they are bright.

When I went to a homeschool dual-enrollment information night years ago at Valencia Community College in Orlando, the president of the college was very homeschool friendly and commented that he had a GED and a doctorate. He did not seem dumb...I would love to have heard the background of that story, but he did not elaborate. Valencia is one of the top community colleges in the nation and my kids have benefited greatly from dual enrollment there.

I have a GED. Tell you what, the next time I'm on a quantum theory thread or we're discussing Kepler, Newton and Einsteins opinions on the Laws of Thermodynamics I'll ping you and you can join in the fun, How's that?

That was one of the dumbest comments I've heard in a while. A GED only means that someone took an alternative route and is not necessarily a reflection on their intelligence. In fact, they may just be someone who is quite smart but doesn't want to stick around for classes that hold no interest and/or are ready to enter the workforce or college.

Actually, I know a number of GED recipients that are highly intelligent. So, why did they drop out of public school? Because they were so extremely bored with the "same size fits all" mentality that they couldn't take it any more.

Public schools (and most all colleges) simply put kids through a "process" so that they can go work for someone else.

Kids pursuing a career in a "trade" industry should be done with school by 15 and go to work as an apprentice in their chosen field.
