One of the best ever. Got to hear him live some years ago, along with his daughter. He has/had a farm in Hawthorne, Florida.

Bo and Link, the reason I started playing guitar!
Who Do You Love?

Bo Diddley

I walked 47 miles of barbed wire,
Used a cobra snake for a neck tie.
Got a brand new house on the roadside,
Made out of rattlesnake hide.
I got a brand new chimney made on top,
Made out of human skulls.
Now come on darling let’s take a little walk, tell me,
Who do you love,
Who do you love, Who do you love, Who do you love.

Arlene took me by the hand,
And said oooh eeeh daddy I understand.
Who do you love,
Who do you love, Who do you love, Who do you love.
The night was black and the night was blue,
And around the corner an ice wagon flew.
A bump was a hittin’ lord and somebody screemed,
You should have heard just what I seen.
Who do you love, Who do you love, Who do you love, Who do you love.

Arleen took me by my hand, she said Ooo-ee Bo you know I understand
I got a tombstone hand and a graveyard mind,
I lived long enough and I ain’t scared of dying.

Who do you love (4x’s)

by Bo Diddley

Near the end of the Stones’ “19th Nerv. Breakdown” they lift the riff from Diddley Daddy.

RIP. He was a true pioneer who influenced modern music more than most will ever realize.

That piece of information may be worth $1000 somewhere else, but in Philadelphia it’s worth fifty bucks!

He was a stud....

Sad news...

Was just watching this video last week, and marvelling what he could do with just a few simple chords...The original power chord master...

Don't look forward to the end. - 30 years ago I read a short essay about how life is like a train trip. You need to enjoy the trip because when the train reaches its destination, your done. It was a very good lesson on how life should be lived.

“I’m A Man” was covered by Muddy Waters as “Mannish Boy”

And the Bo Diddley beat was an influence on everyone from Buddy Holly to the Rolling Stones.

Jimi Hendrix had his own version of “Mannish Boy” as well.

Used to listen to Doo Wop at night on WLAC out of Nashville, TN.

They had two sponsors that I can remember: Ernie's Record Shop and Royal Crown Hair Dressing.

Bo Diddley used to do the Royal Crown Hair Dressing commericals. He would start off singing "Well-l-l-l, use-a Royal Crown Hair-a Dressing" and ended them by saying that it "Makes your hair look gloomified."

Now I'll be playing that in my head for the rest of the day.

Damn! did you ever awaken a long dormant memory.
you remember the QMS?
Didn’t they later change their name to simply “Quicksilver?”

Long ago and far away, I went to the Spectrum in Philadelphia to see Chuck Berry, and Bo Diddley was standing in for him.

Is Chuck Buried or is he still kicking. And has James Brown been buried yet?
