WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush is nominating Gregory C. Garre to be the U.S. solicitor general, the lawyer charged with arguing the administration's cases before the Supreme Court.
A senior administration official confirmed the nomination Monday on condition of anonymity because the announcement had not yet been made.
Bush is designating Garre to serve as acting solicitor general while his confirmation is pending before the Senate.
Garre will replace Paul Clement, . . .

Excellent call by GWB. Garre is a superb lawyer - clerked for Rehnquist, and worked in private practice with SCOTUS CJ Roberts - let’s hope it doesn’t get held up
