Did Cheney Tell Libby to Do It?
The Washington Post ^ | 03 June 2008 | Dan Froomkin

Posted on 06/04/2008 1:37:59 PM PDT by BGHater

Former vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby told the FBI that it was "possible" that Vice President Cheney instructed him to disseminate information about CIA agent Valerie Plame to the press, according to a redacted FBI report recently examined by Congressional investigators.

In part as a result of that revelation, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee today reiterated its request for more Plame investigation documents -- including reports on the interviews investigators conducted with Cheney and President Bush.

In a letter to Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Committee Chairman Henry Waxman also writes that "[n]ew revelations by former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan raise additional questions about the actions of the President and the Vice President. Mr. McClellan has stated that '[t]he President and Vice President directed me to go out there and exonerate Scooter Libby.' He has also asserted that 'the top White House officials who knew the truth -- including [Karl] Rove, Libby, and possibly Vice President Cheney -- allowed me, even encouraged me, to repeat a lie.' It would be a major breach of trust if the Vice President personally directed Mr. McClellan to mislead the public."

Back in December, I wrote about how special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald had agreed to give congressional investigators key documents from his investigation into the leak -- until the White House intervened. Waxman then asked the newly-installed attorney general to show some independence from his White House masters and release the documents. Committee investigators were eventually allowed to read redacted versions of the reports on interviews with senior administration officials, including Libby and Rove, but not Cheney or Bush.

Here we go again. Let’s tell it like it is: the people pursuing this are malevolent Bush haters.

Just because you are a lawyer doesn’t automatically give you the title of weasel. It just gives you a 90% chance...........

And the Lawyer who Libby beat in that trial was Patrick Fitzgerald. The Jury Foreman Denis Collins worked at the WAPO with Russert for ten years and Armitage turned himself in to DOJ before Fitzgerald was even appointed SP.

May I suggest that the real reason that the left continues to push this issue is to keep distracting attention from Joe Wilson:

Shouldn’t the question be if Cheney asked Richard Armitage to leak the information?

I still haven’t found out, why leaking Velerie Plame’s identity considered a useful thing?

Why these important and accomplished men thought this would help their cause in any way?

I never heard of Valerie Plame or cared about her, untill the leaking of her identity became an issue. Actually, I STILL don’t care about her or the leak. Liberal media sure makes it sound like another Watergate, and that is the ONLY reason I even bother care about it just a little bit.

So as someone who no one knew and most people still don’t know, how did Valerie Plame come to be percieved as a threat to our War Efforts by some of the most experienced and brilliant men around?

How dumb do you have to be that you view Valerie Plame as a threat to War efforts and not Dummy Rummmy, who was fighting for a “small footprint”?

If you are going to leak, then leak the identity of all those losers who concluded that we would be greeted as Liberators and will have flowers and rice thrown at us. Who are those people? I know Ahamad Chalabi is the leader of that group. Who else?

I have still not found any article or story that explains to me why it was important to try and discredit Valerie Plame?

Also, how does being a CIA agent discredit you? I thought it is one of the coolest jobs in the world. I mean if you can’t be a MLB Clean Up Hitter, or Air Force Fighter Pilot, Ace Pitcher, or National Geographic Photographer, then I can’t think of a better job than being a CIA agent.

How does that information discredit her?

A descent looking blonde who works for CIA. Isn’t that an ultimate compliemnt?

Oh well, I guess I would never understand the enigma that is Valerie Plame Scandal.

From Wexler for Congress:

Dear Friends,

Last night, significant news broke that directly impacts our push for Impeachment Hearings and a possible Inherent Contempt charge for Bush Administration officials such as Karl Rove.

< blah, blah, blah >

I believe that it is the duty of Congress to pursue impeachment whenever there's significant evidence of wrongdoing, be it by Republicans or Democrats, regardless of the timing of elections or the current political environment.

< blah, blah, blah >

This new evidence from Scott McClellan could be the tipping point – but we must move quickly. I will use the McClellan admissions to help convince my colleagues that we must hold impeachment hearings.
